I'm glad you kept the scythes instead of falling in the trap of just giving them random weapons from what is a very cool sprue of skeletons.
The scythes are what make them Hero Quest skeletons. I can accept the special boss and warlord minis ;)

(and no need to say they look good, right?)

I concur over every point. Perfect skeletons.

Thanks guys.
IvenBach wrote:I have pure envy over that. I especially like the skeleton with the hole in his skull. You do good work. Tell us how you do it.

Nothing real special done really other than the scythes being added..its all in the sprue really. I cant knock that sprue that these guys came off.

Yeah ive always liked seeing action/ingamed style shots so its something ive been trying to add to keep things looking real puurty! :)

Hehe no need as long as people enjoy what i post. The reason for adding the 2 guys with swords is because i also play quite a bit of advanced heroquest and adding in 2 champions helps flesh out my bestiary for that also. There is actually something else in there though that i would class as something special. You just need to look closer at that last picture :)

We all know you doubt your own skills the most.
Shove that! This thing - built from scratch - is... well... perfect.
The robe! The pose! The threat he imposes in spite of his ragged pose and attire. Jesus!

If that is from scratch when are you going to make your own HQ minis for sale? I'll certainly throw money at you when I have expendable income. Both an inspiration to me and ridicule over my pathetic attempts to copy!

Re: Ampersands stuff

Postby ampersand » August 27th, 2013, 12:02 pm

Thanks for the kind words guys. Im Really happy How he turned out. But please note. He wasnt 100% from scratch. About 15/20% is from my Bits box. The head i doubt i could of ever made that good. I also used a rib cage and arms. Although i probably would of been better off sculpting those myself. I will be attempting to scratch build the other heroes (dwarf, elf and wizard) but that being said all of this sculpting lark is very much a voyage of discovery for me.so i do what i think i can succeed with and then attempt something new next time.Hence why i didnt attmpt to make a head for my witchlord. I guess we shall see how i get on im pushing myself further each time. If i succeed in scratch building the other heroes...who knows? It would be nice to share on that level. However its not cheap and the whole casting part is just another voyage for me to learn. I have made a start on my designs for the other heroes. Im trying to apply the same
Style so that they still represent the characters they are supposed to be. But my goal is to apply something more dynamic to the poses for one. I have my pose all locked down for the dwarf. Also for the wizard and intend on making him look a little more manly than his original counterpart hehe. But the elf....im struggling for a good pose on him.
