Thank you, though honestly the shading effect kind of just happened by itself...I was like :o and thought "why, this was nice!" and just kept it that way :D

It appears that the colour on the edge of the cloak easily peals off....I need to be more carefull in the future.

Now, here is my Temple Guard. This is a defence-orientated hero that knows a bit of magic. I initially named it Templar, but as some people said, that implies some sort of battle prowess (and I agree). The name Temple Guard works, I think, because it describes someone put in uniform to guard an entrance or something, and whose main task is to make sure drunk peasants do not get in...

Anyhow, here she is:

By the looks of her, I imagine quite a few drunk peasants have tried to get in. ;)

It's not that hard you know ;)

When painting an area in a base colour, just add a little white in the mix with your brush, and trace the higher lines and edges. Draw neat lines, but not too thin. You can use a wider brush. Then add more white, and mix the paint. Use a small brush and follow the same lines again. You can use the side of a brush on edges to make it easier.

After highlighting, use washes to accentuate the recesses. There are different colours of wash available, but you can create washes yourself with water and a colour mixed with a bit of black paint or black wash.

I've also had great results with QuickShade.

Well, I have not tried shading or highlighting yet, since I just focus on getting miniatures play-ready...
But here is my Gladiator (variation for the Barbarian)
