Odd place in my head, switching James Earl Jones roles between different films now...

Actually, Arnie's Conan had very little to do with Howards Conan, and it got worse with Red Sonja. Red Sonja is a character that was appearing the first and the only time in the muslim attack on Vienna in the original. Not even close to Conan's time or even world.

But in this case I think both have their right to live. Conan's IP was starting its own life after Howards death, and Arnie's Conan is just a part of it. And somehow Red Sonja appears always together with Conan nowadays.

What I don't like are the misproportioned miniatures presented here. The only beauty is the snake.

Granted the conan movie didnt really care much about keeping true to the books and i know many conan buffs hate it, I am most definitely not in that Camp I have loved the arnold movie since i was a 5 year old its one of my all time favorites. Dont get me wrong I wouldnt say its better than the books which i have read all of (including all 50 odd tor pastiches the bantam and ace series the chose your own adventures The lancer and berkley additions the newer age of conan stuff and between savage sword, barbarian, saga, savage, cimmerian, and Adventurer about 400 comics) i think the movie holds up even today 35 years on for me these minis will fill a gap in my collection that has been there since i started playing games. I know im not the only kid who begged his mom for hero quest because conan was on the box cover. Conan is what grabbed me and turned me into fantasy lover for life and i was watching the movie before i could read so it will always rank right up there near the top for me.

Arnie's Conan was closer to the books than many of the other stories, in fact. But it just wasn't a story from Howards.instead it was a collection of scenes from all the stories, glued together to a new story. Arnie was even respecting the difference between Conan and Red Sonja, by inventing another name for his own character. Just that the look and feel of that film was so similar that the fans were mixing it up in their heads. :)
