Zombies!!!

Played this truly awesome game last night called Zombies!!!. The game is very simple. You start out in the town centre with three hearts, three bullets and three game cards. At the beginning of your turn, you ensure you have three cards in your hand, then you pick a town block from the tile deck and place it logically (connecting the roads and not having a road exit onto the back of a building) on the table. The tile may be a special location which will list how many hearts, bullets and zombies are inside a building on the block, if not, a zombie is placed on each road entrance of the tile. The goal of the game is to either slay 25 zombies, or make it to the helicopter and escape (a tile that is shuffled in with the town block deck). You roll to move and should you encounter a zombie, you must roll a second die. Four plus means you kill the zombie and you place it in your pool in front of you to collect your 25. If you don't roll four or higher, you may use bullets (plus one) to make four, or use a heart to re-roll. The real fun comes with the cards, which are usually played once everyone is racing to the helicopter (it's tough to get 25 zombies). The cards are like events. You can play (or discard) one during your own turn, or play one during the rest of the round to prevent your opponents from reaching their goal. The game has several power ups too, but you need to enter the proper building and have the corresponding card to get them. Items like a skateboard to increase movement, shotguns, fire axes and chainsaws! At the end of your turn, you roll a die to see how many zombies you may move. Zombies each move one square per turn and it's fun removing them from your path and placing them in the path of your opponents.

If you ever have the chance, play this game. It's really cheap at $34 CDN too. My friends at www.miniwargaming.com sell it. I would have run out to buy one today if it wasn't for the tonne of snow we got last night. (and there's plenty more coming as I type. :D Love snow!)

I've already ordered a copy based on the good reviews it's gotten. I'm just waiting for it to arrive.

Picked mine up today. Couldn't wait any longer to get it. Although I have to wait to play it. Gotta set up a game really soon. Turns out we were playing the game incorrectly. Only one card may be played during an entire round from the beginning of your turn to the beginning of your next turn. But house rules could always be applied! ;) I stick with the true rules for now and see how it all goes. There are nine expansions to the game. I may pick them up later on if I get a lot of good gaming in.

I ended up buying the game and adoring it!
I've set up a light website about it, once in a while I'll update it and load it with rules and variants found on the web.
Cheers

Oh yeah, Dave is one of the co-owners and my brother-in-law's brother-in-law, so he feels we're kind of related. The other co-owner, Matt, is a good friend of my younger sisters and my brothers-in-law.
