I just got a old gameboard someone sold me on gameboard geek.
It's DRAGON FIRE and very similar to HQ & ADHQ I will let you know more as soon as I receive it.

On your word, I just checked it out on the geek. Looks interesting. There aren't very many pics unfortunately, but I see some miniatures and some tiles. I wouldn't mind a closer view of them if you're able to share any once you receive the set. It it looks good I'll probably add it to my list of games to search for to broaden my collection and expand my HeroQuest games.

I received the game last week.
A great surprise. The box is smaller than the heroquest one and has less content but... the game is great it use the movement points : waou !
It includes :
* 4 heroes (all the same) 4 ogres , 4 orcs and 4 evil lords.
* A nice special dice set which can be used for your attack & defense but also works for your superior levels.
* A modular board which is excellent
* doors, traps, chasm tiles
* event cards ,a lot of gear & artefacts cards.
Well more photos here :

4 players can be heroes and level up, get better gear and find magicial artefacts.

One player controls monsters and reveals a event card at the begining of his turn, place traps, secret doors and put each new room/passage when heroes advance deeper in the dark dunjeons.

Dice results can be read according to your hero level :Image

Monsters too have a level and a number of actions per turn.
You can have close combat, launch spells, use bow etc
Image

Mouvement points can be used to do tiny actions like opening a door or closing it, taking a potion, search a room for treasure or traps, talk to a monster and so on.
Mecanism of the game is very similar to HeroQuest or Space Hulk even Descent itself and this game introduces a roleplaying part with the "talking to mobs" option... something very exclusive & interesting !

As for Space Crusade, each GM turn starts with the event card which add more difficulty to the exploration.
It can be a wandering monster, a ambush, a trap, a closed door to force, special powers to mobs etc

The box contains 4 set of 4 different figurines with 4 different colors (red, yellow, blue, black) :
1 hero, 1 soorceer, 1 orc and 1 troll

Image
As for DOOM & Descent (18 years later) the game difficulty can suit to the number of players for each quest !

To every battle won, heroes win experience, gold & items.
So they can level up & buy a better gear.

Dunjeons are composed of rooms & passages floor tiles with doors.
A infinite possibility to create places and it 100% compatible with HQ board...

Dragon Fire is a swedish UFO, a nice precursor and a huge step into dunjeon crawling adventures but totally unknow.
Yes, I think the tiny box contain played a bad role here.
More figurines and different heroes, a little bit more of things or 3D furnitures and it could easily kill HeroQuest for sure...

Those figs look kind of cheap-ass china made...
are they any good?
Would they pass muster if painted?

It does look intriguing...

No they are as good as Dragon Fire ones.
It's a mystery since a lot of corridors & rooms have the style of HQ, even the orc is very similar so ...

This looks pretty neat - nice cards and illustrations and such - minis look a little cheesy, though
I like the way they create the board - smaller tiles that fit together, and they actually have a means of keeping
them together, it looks like...little connectors or something, yes?

Hi!

I've got an old Dragonfire game and would really like to play it with my brother this christmas, but the booklet with the adventures is missing. Would you be so kind as to scan, or in some way copy the text of the booklet and send it to me?

Each player controls four heroes of the same color as space crusade? Or else, why they have different colors? If it is not a skirmish game and it has quests then it could be very interesting. The artwork is awesome…

About the event cards, I supposed they are most of them traps and bad things that happens. But about the conversation with the enemies, how it works? You can just get advantage in battle or you can find unexplored parts of the scenario?

by the way, thanks for sharing

ps: A booklet sharing could be very helpful :barbarian:
