Dungeon Quest

Postby Nephew of Mentor » March 22nd, 2012, 6:47 am

I saw someone mention this in passing in one of the older posts, but I can't find any post specifically about Dungeon Quest. I saw it for sale on Ebay and was wondering if anyone here played it at all/much. I see there is an updated version so I must ask, does anyone know if the older version is much different than the newer? Is it fun? I see it has a time limit set on campaigns which intrigues me.

What do you guys think of the minis that come with it? Let me know, thanks.
Sure it's pretty scary when the witch lord returns but what you should really be afraid of is "Resurrection of the Witch Lord". Resurrected baddies always come back more threatening than ever, usually kind of demonic with wings and horns and hell fire to announce their arrival. Think Gannondorf or Mother Brain from Super Metroid.

this is the old version 1985: link
This is the new version 2010: link

The 1985 edition had 2 expansions:
Catacombs and Heroes

Classic hero pieces:

Looks like a cool game to me. You get to build dungeons as you go.

I think I like the looks of the classic version better, but I have no idea how the rules were and are now.

Is it just me or would one or two of those original minis make a good Pierre Chancier and Sir Ragnar? Hmm, is there anyone there that would make a good prospector? I'd like to buy both because the new one appears to have a pretty sweet dragon.

I might need to invest in this game for times when my players want to compete against each other with gnashing of teeth and blood thirst!!

I love that design for the board - with each space being a "room" of its own. The Munchkin Board Game
does the same thing...I've thought about trying to do something like this for heroquest, but since I've
never played a game that uses this design, I am at a loss for how the rules for movement, monsters
and such would work. I haven't had much luck making up my own, so far.

Still working on it in my spare time.

LOL.
This surely brings back some memories......20+ years ago I actually had some of these minis. EXACTLY the same.
The Chaos Warrior with the wolf on his head; the Chaos sorceror, the Chaos Warrior with the big@ss sword and some others definitely strike a chord. The ninja, the checkerboard dude, the dwarf, the ranger and the ogre.....
I believe they all came in a box which I got to use with HQ. I traded them all later (probably for a M.E.R.P. book)
