Seriously!? I can't wait to get my hands on Warhammer Quest. The thing is so damned expensive on eBay... even when it's incomplete and painted! I've been wanting a set of those rats, bats and spiders for decades.
You're right on with the Terror in the Dark. I wasn't impressed at all. In fact, mine is still unpunched, but I got it with my Advanced HeroQuest (which is also unused and most of the minis are still on sprue, but the tiles are punched) for a really good deal. I've been itchin' to make some modular quests myself. I really like the Skaven. I'm hoping to use them in Phoenix' Return of the Witch Queen when my group finishes the official quests. They're just heading into Ogre Horde now so... it may still be a year yet.
The cardboard chests, portcullises and throne are cheap (as in a rip-off) as are the cardboard tombs, rats, bats etc. from TinD. I don't know why, but Games Workshop always seems to cheap-out of things. AHQ and TinD along with all their other Fantasy games weren't inexpensive when they were on the market. Classic HeroQuest just has a whole lot more value in the box. More (exclusive) Miniatures, actual furniture, plus all the cardboard tiles, cards, game board, special dice, game screen... the box is pack so full it's a Tetris game just trying to fit it all back in once you've punched everything out and assembled them.
But... if you can find a good copy of AHQ for a fair price, it does make a great addition to HeroQuest.
