Make sure to get all the rules down--particularly how each is worded. You can accidentally break the game in favor of the heroes if you miss something as simple as the instructions not to return potion and gold cards to the Treasure deck. The game is consistent when it tells you what you cannot do, so always look for that. For instance, all weapons can be used with the shield, unless described otherwise. Another point is how line-of-sight works differently in hallways and rooms--this has a major effect on how searches go down. So, basically, make sure you've got line-of-sight rules down and to utilize traps with monsters, and you'll stand the best chance of killing all four heroes. I usually kill at least one per Quest, though its not uncommon for me to kill three or even all four. You want to fight against the heroes gaining more equipment, as that makes it harder for you to win. You're not a Dungeon Master, you're the fifth player, and you should try to win.

If you are is Southern Cali pm me and we can see if it's feasible as I've been itching to play for quite a while. Whatever you do hold onto that HQ from now on. I sold my best copy in order to offset my expensive ebay reaper kickstarter vampire purchase I let myself make . I still have 2-1/2 or so worth of HQ but no official box nor armory insert. Just get as much worth out of it as you can. If your friends are the type that do board games ask them. If not ask around with maybe some co-workers and see if they are interested in trying retro gaming. You could always go to a local hobby store and see if they have any kind of a billboard listing people that are looking for games or groups. I did that a while back but sadly nobody was interested in HQ. in my opinion you should have your minis painted as that just raises the cool bar while you're playing. Instead of rolling :whiteshield: :whiteshield: :blackshield: for your attack rolls once it's painted you'll magically see :skull: :skull: :skull: a lot more for some reason. Keep on posting and let us know how it goes. We also have a blog http://yeoldeinn-heroquest.blogspot.com/ where you can find tons of good info and ideas there as well.

Sorry for railroading your thread. Back to topic.

Even if nobody wants to game with you you're still able to tell people that you enjoy playing with yourself . It's better if you can get friends/family into it as much as you. Get your kids into it if you have some and they'll think of you as the greatest. That's my plan for my daughter.

I click on the link to this and the first thing my eye land on... I'm starting to wonder if there should be some sort of filtering we do for people on the forum. I'm worrying about chaoticprimes Occupation & Interests... Plenty of 'ol one eye :fimir: up in there...

You'll see more HQ than AHQ here and elsewhere for a reason:
The rights on HQ are owned by Hasbro, the rights on AHQ are owned by Greed Workshop. "Publishing" your thoughts, plus custom quests, rules, figures and other material, for a game so long out of print, in the internet is not a problem with Hasbro, but Greed workshop is more intolerant and lawsuit-happy than Disney. That's why you'll never find a board as rich as this one dedicated to AHQ (pros and cons of the gameplay itself put aside).
Have a look ;)

Try to find players about your age. Of course (I think) it’s fun to play with the family but there are many guys out there who are playing AD&D or other RPG games that they will love to play HQ for sure (it is more possible to find players from these games than from people who are playing boardgames as monopoly or card games... players from AD&D are more "ready to play" HQ). Put a sticker on your local hobby store, or use the social media to organize a game in a public place as your local hobby store.
