How the heck to do tables??

Postby Big Bene » March 10th, 2014, 6:06 am

I can't find out to save my life how to change the width of cells / columns in tables in the BBCode you use.
Have spent quite some time searching the net, but none of the methods worked.
Have a look ;)

I don't think you can fix widths with this code.

Well, it was your Sir Eddie table that convinced me that there must be a way to do it. The first column is notably wider than the others.

:elf:
Brave, brave sir Eddie!

After inculing some more text, it suddenly started to adapt the width automatically.
Have a look ;)

I've accidentally found this thread, so I'm gonna offer a trick that takes advantage of the cell margins that automatically widen for greater text. Add . . .
Code: Select all
[color=transparent]. . . an even greater amount of invisible text that will adjust the cell to an overall-longer text length, causing a visibly shorter cell of text to widen.[/color]

It will change this . . .
The longer text creates the wider cell when both cells contain all-visible text. The visibly shorter text has a more narrow cell.

. . . to this . . .
The longer text creates the wider cell when both cells contain all-visible text. The visibly shorter text now has a wider cell. This is due to the invisible text that creates an overall-longer text block.
