HeroScribe and Quests

Hello friends! This is my first post here and I wanted to first say hello and also ask a couple of questions. My friends and I have decided to begin playing Hero Quest again.(for some of us since we were kids) So we broke out our old Hero Quest game systems and started up. I'm their GM and we've played through the first 4 quests of the original quest book. Now we've discovered your site and so far it's been a fantastic resource! I never knew there was still such a strong interest in this game, which is great because I have fond memories of playing with my Dad as a kid.

Anyway, to get to the point. They've asked me for more of a RPG experience and to help oblige them I've decided to better link together and expand a bit on the original quests. So I downloaded Hero Scribe and it seems pretty awesome but I'm having some trouble. I've read here that you can make the quest text parts on HeroScribe as well as the map part. How do you do this? Also, I noticed that it recommends ghost script, what is that and should I download it? Finally, I notice that on some of the quest maps on your site the hallways are a lighter dark color than the solid rock areas. Basically, I'm wanting my quests that I make to look like this.

Thanks in advance for your help!

firstly, i don't know how to make the quest text part of heroscribe, thus far i've just used ms word for my text, but i'd love to have mine look like that too.
that said i think i can help with some of your other questions
i think the ghost script is just for printing, it may be different for diffrent computers but on mine i click on file, then go down to export and select PNG, once i've done this i can print just fine
click on the Dark/Bridge button to darken halways and such
another thing you may want to do is click on region (next to file) and select US, this will put things in collor and make it look the quest in the link you posted.
i hope that helps, and wellcome back to the world of HQ

If you have Word 2000 or 2003, you can use my Word template Questbook.dok.
It can do almost everything HeroScribe can, but has also room for Introductory texts, Quest descriptions etc.
Won't work with Word 2007/10, pitily.

Don't use Heroscribe... Use this soft http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O1OXBZ32
He has been made by HEROQUEST FRANCE so it's in french... But very easy to use, and it allow you to make quest maps in colour !
Try it, it's great ! You can add all the icon and tiles you want too (but it's a little hard)

HeroScribe cannot be used to create the intro and notes. This is a planned feature for the next version of HeroScribe which is still quite a ways away. As darthjason suggests, to make maps in the American format, you must change it in HeroScribe's region menu. To make the whole product appear like the Tears of Times Passes quest, you'll have to consult with Phoenix on that one.

But as Big Bene and gravaillon mention, there are other programs and ways to get the job done.
