Lost Bretonnian Armoury

I made rules for the coloured weapon cards here at the inn to make them powerful magic weapons. Because they look different to the standard ones and they would make the heroes very powerful if they were kept, the idea is that the go find them all and then return them, for a big reward of course. You could let them keep them if they're very experienced heroes and you want to put dragons and stuff in the quests or if you want a sudden jump up in monster hardness.

You know what i'm going to say... what i always say... Centre alignment. Too wordy and way too small to print, especially in that font. It was even hard to read on my PC screen and it's a 50". Sorry to put on a downer but I always view those points first before reading the idea.

How about instead of.
"Four attack dice, can attack diagonally or two straight forward squares if there's nothing in the squares between, raises defence dice by twn but cant be used with the shield."

Axe of fortitude
Picture
Made for a Brettonian Prince Infused with protection magic.
4Ad6 +2Dd6
2 Handed
Diagonal Attack with Extended Reach
may not be used by the wizard

Use generic terms that follow the same rulings through out the game. Ditch all the 'this was' and extra explanatory English. You might prefer it the other way to match original HQ wording style, If so 10 lines including spaces are your limit. What's the point of making a card that no one can print or if we do print, it doesn't look good.

I thought it was a bit on the small side but okay, they could do with neater alignment. I'll tidy them up tonight.

'Extended Reach' is a bit ambiguous, I might use the rest so I can increase the text size.

I like the fluff, it gives them character.

What do you think of the actual weapons?

Couple of things I missed, axe of fortitude shouldn't be usable for the dwarf because it's too long, the executioner can attack diagonally and infernus gets its spells back before each quest. :smack: And I'm supposed to be shortening the text, AH! :bites-lip:

Yes it is. It's simply the term i use for how you've designed this weapon. The whip and pike have the same. 'Extended Reach: Attack up to 2 squares adjacent, 1 diagonal.' A pike even has follow through if triggering 'Mighty Blow: Roll all skulls in attack. Follow Through: Any Skulls not blocked or used as wounds hit the next model in reach, who defends as normal. With this you can thrust a pike straight through 1 monster on to the next.

I don't feel the need to include the explanation for another monster being in the way as standard LoS rules would prevent this. It would only need to be mentioned if it was the opposite, you can attack the next monster 2 squares adjacent even if the 1st is occupied, boomerang perhaps, lol, I can't think of any weapon non magical that could do this. If it was a write up for kids the example would show that wasn't possible even if not directly saying it.

I'm going to have to come back to this later - but I'm intrigued.

Sorry if you've already mentioned this - but how does this tie in to Bretonnia? Do you
have a history tie in or something?

No not really. I just like the idea of them being very ancient lost weapons that go back well before the Empire existed and have now been found by ‘insert despicable evil’. The idea is the heroes go collecting them (maybe one per quest or more than one in most quests for a shorter campaign, could even put them all in the same quest if you wanted) and give them back to the king when they've found them all.

These weapons are long lost relics from an ancient time when the world was a very different place. Chaos meant disorganised, children played in the woods free from the threat of being snatched away by greenskins, honour meant more than gold, opal was spelt opel and Bretonnia had only one freakin' n. :x

I can live with that. Bretonnia never had more than one "t", though.

Here you go. Neatened up, bigger text, errors corrected, a couple of upgrades to make them more distinctive and two name changes to make them sound nicer. Better?
