Parley Cards

Postby GimmeYerGold » December 3rd, 2013, 7:02 pm

These cards essentially serve as a second treasure card deck with equal odds of finding something harmless or harmful.
"Parley with Lone Monster" is a new action a hero can perform, you guessed it, when a Monster is alone. Each monster can only be parleyed once.
Quest notes will indicate when a monster cannot be parleyed. For instance, Gargoyles and character monsters like the Witch Lord ignore parleys.
I've added some artifacts from expansion quests, and some potions for the EU HQ version. The Rabbit Boots are nerfed, since you have a chance of finding a pair each quest.
I tried to style the descriptions to match the copywriting on the NA Heroquest treasure cards.

EDIT: As with my other custom cards, all artwork is pulled from illustrations by the original HQ card artist, Gary Chalk.

Wow, these are fantastic! Very novel idea, and well put together, too.

Well done! I love these, very innovative!

I'm not sure if there is a UK English to NA English difference, but according to my sources, "parlay" is a gambling maneuver, and "parley" means to negotiate with an opposing side.

This is a Great idea!!! It will make heros lose BP to try to get to draw from this Parley deck. One question. Can you have Mercs and a Guest monster and Can each hero have a Guest monster and the max mercs? * Max mercs is what again?* I love it i just need ANSWERS!! :blackshield: again Great Concept and very playable!! :2cents:
the rabbit boots I was wondering you said you nerfed how so? Jumping a pit trap I thought was always anything but a monster shield maybe i'm way off. Sinister Concept :)

Enticing Heroes to lose more BP was exactly what I was shooting for :)

Glad you like 'em, Mako. Thanks for the kind words!

According to the Barbarian quest, "a hero can control as many Mercenaries as he can afford to hire," but in the Wizards of Morcar, it says "Adventurers may hire up to four followers at any time between Quests."

In the case of these cards, I'd say you may have the Monster Companion plus whatever mercenary max is decided, because the odds of being able to keep the Monster for more than one quest would be pretty rare: the chances of finding a Monster companion card and having some spoiled meat on hand wouldn't happen too often. And since Monster companions defend with black shields, they'd be more likely to expire sooner.

The way I interpreted the rabbit boots in the official expansions is that they're a permanent item to be used again and again. Here, I make them a one-time use disposable item.
