Wizard Skill Cards

Postby GimmeYerGold » November 13th, 2013, 12:31 pm

Here's my set of Wizard Skill cards, using the template and Gary Chalk images. They are available to the Wizard at the beginning of each quest.
To keep things balanced, the monsters defend with white shields and have their own selection of skills, too.

Furniture one is funny, think about it:

:wizard: : Oh no, two :chaoswarrior: s, I turn to a table!
:barbarian: :dwarf: and :elf: smash monsters.
Every monster is dead.
:wizard: turns back to a human.
:wizard: : Did I miss something?

And on "Lust for knowledge" there is a typo, elf the victor ;)

haha, i see that typo now! ah geeze. This would only work if I was playing with a dude named Victor!

There's also some redundant wording on Tarot Card I can fix. Thanks! :D

Man, these are AMAZING! I love these!
Does using these skills count as an action?

Thanks so much, Sjeng ^_^

Yep, these all count as actions, except the "Enchantments" card, which is a "passive ability" and more of an easy reference item for the player.

Awesome. Astral Projection is my favorite here. Will blatantly use the idea in some way.
It really might give that wuss the much looked for edge.
I have already dealt with that, but there's a way to go.

Although all of your skill cards are awesome, I have to confess that the Wizard is the only Hero I would want to improve. I have played through quests where he has 4 or 5 spell sets and he becomes a much more valued member of the group. So I was very interested to see what you would do here.

Lust for knowledge
Do you think the Elf and Wizard should add 1d6 to their Mind Points to determine the winner. It would give the Wizard a +2 advantage which only seems fair as it is his skill :2cents:

Polymorph
:dwarf: 'Ya best wait out there Wizzy'
:barbarian: 'Aye, leev this t'real men'
:elf: 'ooh, a table. where did that come from?'
:wizard: 'hehe Never fear fellas. He can't harm me now!'
:chaoswarrior: 'You do realise that I have an axe?'

4 or 5 spell sets?! How exciting! Now that I have these extra Morcar spell cards, (plus the original Chaos spells) I ought to add a rule about allowing the Wizard to hold more spells. How do you decide the order of choosing spell groups? Wizard, Elf, and Wizard takes 3 or 4 at the end?

My logic on that one is since it's sort of an underhanded move, the advantage should be in the Elf's favor. Otherwise the Elf is likely to always lose one spell. HOWEVER, I've noticed that my Wizard doesn't use this card much--I guess the idea of taking a fellow hero's spell card leaves a bad taste in his mouth. hehe

This was for my custom quest pack 'Dealing with Death'. The Wizard is the only original Hero used so this wasn't an issue. You can download the Quest Pack in the 'The Chronicles of Sir Ragnar' section of the Adventurer's Guild. (shameless self promotion, again! )

Yes, that is the order I would use but...

I am considering this as an alternative

  • The Elf may only use the Elf Spells from tMotM, selecting 3 at random at the beginning of each quest.
  • The Wizard would then get all of the original Elemental Spells with each set now counted as 1 spell book.
  • He can then use his treasure to buy additional spell books (WoM spells + custom spells) between quests.
  • At the beginning of each quest he must then choose which 4 of his spell books to take with him into the dungeon.
