Treasure Card

This is a hazard for the random treasure card deck.

Cursed Scroll
WHOSOEVER READETH THIS SCROLL HEAPS TWICE THE MISERY ON HIMSELF AND HIS COMPANIONS
For the remainder of this quest, whenever a wandering monster appears, there will be two instead of one. (First monster attacks the Hero drawing the WM card and the second monster attacks the reader of this Cursed Scroll.)

Of course, if the Quest calls for two wandering monsters to begin with the Cursed Scroll would double that, causing four wandering monsters instead of two! One wandering monster per Hero!

Ouch! That sounds delightfully painful. I like the general idea of it. Could also work for 'Gold' and/or 'Potions' if you would like to aid Heroes during tough campaigns.

While adding some Topic Icons to this forum I came across this old thread and decided to make something of it.

That is a great idea. I think i may use something similar, making a curse/blessed artifact that would give one Hero double effects of all treasure cards.
Double gold, double w/monster, double trap attack etc.

But maybe it can only be used for 4-5 quests, depending on roll at start of quest.

Any ideas on a name for this artifact, maybe a crown or ring etc.

I've actually found wandering monsters to be way too many and healing potions not enough. It might be better to discard the wandering monster card when drawn instead of returning it to the deck - people will stop searching for treasure because of the risk of a wandering monster soon enough.

You are dead right there, Puck never searches for treasure, unless a chest is in the room, he always says when I remind him, "Too many WM!"

If you are getting too many WM you could always say that monster is carrying a satchel/ gold purse or something of note, and once it has been slain, pick another treasure card, or give 20 - 50 gold to keep them keen!!

That is good thinking, I will try it next time Puck is here, thanks.
