Another year is almost over and what a strange year it has been. It would seem that a musician was taken from us once a week if not more! I guess since the 'celebrity' icon idea evolved and alot of these celebs have gotten to that age where they are being taken, it all suddenly feels that they are being taken from us to quick...I certainly hope 2017 doesn't start in the same vein....fingers crossed.

...ok, well the reason for the post was to ask people what they plan or hope to achieve in 2017 relating to HQ. Could it be as simple as just to get some friends together and play some games? could it be to write that quest that has been on the back burner for years? perhaps some conversions are on the cards? Please do tell!

I personally gave my nephew a copy of HQ for his 11th birthday last week and I now only own 2 complete heroes and 2 with broken swords. So this year I want to have a go at making some new weapons for them. Thankfully I have just met a colleague at work who is absolutley fantastic at making miniatures! He is an artist and works with many materials but we got talking and turns out he has made alot of nurgle monsters etc. Well he showed me his work and I was blown away - I will have to get photoes. I am going to ask his help in pimping out my broken barbarian and elf

Also I have a box of zealot furniture that is just begging to be played with and painted. So even if it is just a door I want to start 2017 the right way, by giving my HQ stuff some love!

As I said before, what are you plans with HQ in 2017?

Well not specifically HeroQuest, but here are my plans for 2017.

Finish painting my Space Crusade set.
ACTUALLY play it! I swore I wouldn't play until all the minis for the base game were painted.
I joined a D&D group. We are starting up for real after the holidays. Gotta need some minis for that as well.
Paint and play some DOOM 2016. Anyone else got this? The minis are great! I dare say the BEST for any miniature board game I've ever seen! I hope the zealot stuff will soon be available.
Reformat the Mirror Maze to European A4 instead of that stupid "letter" format...
I also plan to get some of the new Sisters of Battle miniatures. Just a handful for display purposes. What we've seen so far is amazing. The new Celestine is incredible!

I also kinda plan to enter 2017 with a bit more discipline:

Paint 1 hour each day
Paint 1 miniature every two days
Work on video game 1 hour each day
Train cats 15 minutes each day
Sadly this doesn't leave much time for workout so I'll just skip that

- paint, paint, paint minis, furniture, dungeon accessories
- write a quest pack or supplement for HQ: Heroes & Villains a month (the general outline of ideas stands)
- finish ghan's Champion of the Empire as an NA format pdf
- build and paint the 2.5D dungeon

When all that is done, commence on some playing HQHV !

Unrelated to HQ
- troll and trigger SJW's
- further make up my political (or rather, apolitical) and social mind to deal with our fraggled up realities
- further boycott football and other obvious devious money-making machineries (radio, TV in general)
- listen to post-rock, post-metal, and other great music while painting and trying out more new bands that I haven't listened to before
- clean out the attic, organize stuff into a chaotic storage system, sell stuff on flea markets
- troll and trigger some more SJW's
- think about setting up a blog

Goblin King that sounds very regimented with painting everyday! If you can fit it in with life then hats off to you At present time I get thursday and friday evenings when my son is asleep and the mrs is at work to do some painting...its not enough!

Hey go tell them Lauren Southern wants to do an interview with them, take them to their safe space and then tell them there are only 2 genders! hahahaha man SJW movement is sooo f**ked it! Finish my 3D dungeon. That will involve playing less Destiny and Battlefield 1! Learn to paint better.

Learn to paint better is one of mine also. I have been painting a year and noticed that the more i painted the better I got. So really I need to say paint more as well as learn to paint better

I'm not blessed with neither children nor wife, but at the very least that frees up a lot of time (and I can eat steak for breakfast).
But it's not more rigid than if I'm seeing friends or got some plans I can skip painting. But I work best under self imposed rules

The grass is always greener...have my family! please! haha well if only I was back into miniatures and painting when I was a free and single guy...I would certainly have gotten my painting standards up! oh well! At least I can paint as much as I can for the next few years and hopefully have completed sets of games by the time the boys come of age (thats the dream anyway!)

and I agree miniature gaming is a huge cash cow distraction for millions... I am one of though happy millions though

That's not even funny... but yes, certain companies and also youtube channels and so-called communities need to be boycotted, even in that little nerd industry.

True that, all of it. Myself, I live with my girlfriend and her 13-year-old daughter.
Both of them not very time-consuming.
In addition, I get to paint or write every morning before late shift and every night after early shift.
I've done either one of these two things since my little discussion with Harry on this here forum in his own thread in February, I think it was.
Juuuust a little and sometimes as much as I have free time, but never letting go of the entire hobby for a single day.

I did a bunch of HQ Quest-writing during the first half of 2016, but progress slowed to "nonexistent" in the back half. In 2017, I'm gonna finish those projects up - although probably not for a couple of more months. Real life gets in the way, you know?
