Has anyone ever had any writing published? I've had a big idea about a story for a long time and I've finally got around to starting to write it. I might post the prologue later on or tomorrow. It's hand written at the moment, my computer went down for a few days so I've been writing it on and off and now it's fixed. From what I understand, fantasy literature is very hard to get published.

Not for yeaaaaaaaars, and yes, it's hard to get published, regardless of genre.
Of course, in this day & age, self-publishing is easy.

I really want it to go to print the traditional way. I've love to get it done properly. I know I'm hugely biased but I think it would do well. There's a big gap in this market, most writing of this genre tends to be written in a way that really doesn't appeal to anyone without an interest in fantasy to start with. I think the time is perfect for a more modern take on it with characters that aren't so archetyped, this is the wizard, he's all wise and mysterious, this is the dwarf, he's just like every other dwarf, etc.

I think more modern characters that happen to exist in a fantasy world plus a good story of course could work really well.

Self publishing is where you go via a PoD & ebook production to print and distribute the book yourslef, or through a (number of) marketplace web sites.

Hmm, okay. Thanks. I'll see if anyone wants it first then go that rout if not then.

I'll post the prologue tomorrow. I've just seen how much I've written. It a much bigger prologue than was intended.
