What horrible news to wake up to...

What makes it really weird is that yesterday I got the urge to listen to nothing but Bowie.
It's not my usual go-to music, but out of nowhere I pulled down the entire library and had it running all day.

For my part I'll always honor him in my own little way with my username and profile pic.

One hell of a shock to be sure. I saw it on my news feed this morning and figured it had to be some internet nonsense, but sadly it seems to be true.

Such a unique blend of talents. A very sad day indeed.

Just just put out a new album (or it will be out soon).
Too crazy.

I hope he figuratively speaking tilts one back with Lemmy.
They were two heroes for the general directions my music taste tends towards.
And awesome, interesting people.

I don't ever hear what's going on in news but decided to take a look and first thing... Something just isn't right now that the Goblin King is gone...

I now find myself wondering how many nasty Goblin King NPC's that he inspired due to Labyrinth. I know my knock off NPC of the Goblin King has been in a number of my dungeons and RPG's.

Good music for the most part, interesting costumes and characters...what's not to love?

Horrible indeed. Wanted to post, but thought It'd be only right if you posted this GK. I was SO sad when I heard. I was driving in my car to work. I wanted to go home and listen to his songs all day
Bowie was one of my greatest pop idols, along with Freddy Mercury. Sadly, I never got a chance to see either of them perform live.

I think his miniature from Z:BP is going to be the first one I paint. And now I know I want that Labyrinth boardgame too. Anything to remember him. So sad I'm going to have to tell my son about all those great pop legends, but they'll never get to see them alive, only from pictures. I have so many feelings right now, don't even know how to properly express them... But sadness is the biggest one. R.I.P. David.

At least new generations will always be able to listen to his amazing music without feeling sad - the same way I don't feel sad by the fact that Elvis is dead.
No need to dwell on the sadness I guess.
But to be honest I'm still just kinda stumped myself. I've been shaking my head all day muttering "He can't be dead - he just can't".
Even in real life he always seemed like this magical creature that would live forever.

On a lighter note...
I hadn't even realized they had actually started making the Labyrinth game - and that it's a miniature game! I just saw the announcement posted here a while back.
But just look at this!

Can't wait to see Jareth.
I wonder which of his costumes they'll chose?
They better not screw this up!

My first "awareness" of the existence of David Bowie was seeing 'The Man who Fell to Earth' when it came out in the 70s. I had no idea how well he would adapt and update his persona and music throughout the years. Not a huge fan of pop music in general, but Bowie was and is an exception. His various other characters he's played over the years have generally been fun to watch on screen as well. And, I'd add that I never felt with his multitude of roles over the years that he was just doing a Cameo because he was a pop star--he always added something to the projects he was in--in my opinion anyway. Not the least of which was his caricature of himself when he did the Ricky Gervais show 'Extras' He lampooned himself brilliantly there.

Ziggy Stardust is probably my favorite Bowie, album (not only because Bauhaus did an awesome cover of that particular song), but I ALWAYS get a mental snapshot of Jareth from Labyrinth when I hear his name...*Chuckle*...

Regardless, thank you for all the many wonderful years of entertainment David, may I call you David now Mr. Bowie? You will be missed sir.
