Ye Olde Inn

I realized how into miniatures I'm getting when my father-in-law didn't need a small 2 drawer metal filing cabinet and my first thought was something like 'Hey... I can make movement trays out of that'. A day or so later I'm slicing it apart with my angle grinder and now have tons of flat sheets I can cut to shape once I've painted my minis. Anyone else have anything that made them have a moment like this that made them laugh later when they thought about it? I hope I'm not the only who's done this.

You're into minis when...

You are sitting at a romantic cafe at night with your girlfriend. It's a summer night. There are colored lights. You look at her and realize her colors in this light would be great for painting a mini with "object source lightning".

You're into mini's when....


You are out doing the weekly shop with the missus and she picks up the washing liquid for the laundry and you look at the ball device that goes in the machine and think how cool that would look [painted industrial like and added to your 40K battlefield.

or extreme example....

You've had a good few hours painting and finshed a project/mini off and gone to bed for a bit of "nooky" with the other half, and halfway through you suddenly realise you've forgotten to paint a bit in or on.

oh man, that's bad. I usually only think of minis again after sex, when my brain is thrown back into normal mode again
She's all like "sigh.... what are you thinking of now?" and I'm like "do you really want to know?" xD After a while, she just says: "You're thinking about heroquest aren't you?" hehehe, fortunately, she likes the game as well.

Don't think I'm THAT into minis. I'd think you should see a psych about that though. I figured there'd be some good ones on here if a few people post them.

The first one is based on an actual event, the second is purely fictional, she'd kill me if that ever happened lol.

When you with your wife, kids, etc are in the super market and you are buying a product for hand washing, then you are always insist that the best for the bacteria is dettol.

You're into minis when... You claim that your kid(s) will love that cool new boardgame with all those mins, and your wife has to remind you that they can't even talk yet. Hasn't happened to me but I know I'll try and use that excuse more than once. I've no shame in claiming that I'm buying something for the kids when it'd be for me.
Heck my dad taught me that himself. Something along the lines of 'The best gift you can get someone else is something you yourself can use or want'. I did that for his birthday for movies and right after he opened them asked if I could 'borrow' one. He told me I should have just watched it then wrapped it instead of waiting.

Your into mini's when...

...you pass any furniture store and pop in to look for new stuff that will compliment your living space, instead whats on your mind, is the best cabinet shelf that will hold your collection.
