I'm a collectomaniac!

Postby Nephew of Mentor » February 20th, 2012, 4:24 am

Back in college I noticed in most of my nerdy friends the thing that makes us a great customer base to have. We all loved to collect things. Unfortunately, when it comes to HQ this poses a problem for me. I love this site and the fact that I can get everything I need to play all of the expansions without spending thousands of dollars, but I can't even think about this game without wanting something closer to the original. Paper cutouts are ok in a pinch, but the minis were what made this game so freaking awesome for me when I was a kid.

To the point. I want to use the pdfs an jpgs to create something close to the classic feel. What materials do you use for the tile and card print outs? I'm estimating that the tiles are 1-2mm in thickness, so I guess if I could find a ready source of this type of card stock/cardboard I could simply print them off on paper or sticker paper and glue them onto the card stock, but I still must ask. What materials do you use for printing and recreating the tiles and cards? Let me know, thanks.
Sure it's pretty scary when the witch lord returns but what you should really be afraid of is "Resurrection of the Witch Lord". Resurrected baddies always come back more threatening than ever, usually kind of demonic with wings and horns and hell fire to announce their arrival. Think Gannondorf or Mother Brain from Super Metroid.

I use all card stock, I don't worry about thickness. I've made templates on my computer for proper sizes and where to place image so that I can flip sheet an print double sided. I run the card stock through the printer so I get a double sided card with no glue or tape. My printer is cheap and takes the card stock. I can't speak for all printers.

Is that for both cards and tiles? By the way, I must apologize. After spending more time on this site Ive located the place where I should have posted this discussion. Thanks for the input, so far. That is what I am considering for the cards. Do you use any kind of glossy stock?

The only fault I see in my cards is the lack of gloss. I should look into that more. Yes tiles to.

A kid??? It's frikkin awesome NOW!!!

Man, I know what you mean. I was toying with the idea of a 3D scanner - along with a 3D printer. We would have to get someone who has complete kits (cough sound:) *drathe* and get them to scan 3D minis and print 3D minis.

Of course, that would probably cost loads...

I've been looking at 3D scanners and printers for several years now. I would love to have one. I would definitely scan all the minis and post the files for others with 3D printers to use.

effectivemnt cla existe bien.

en fait d'impression 3d, il s'agit d'un epilement de fine pelicule de résine couche par couche.
quand au scanner, j'ignore s'il peut capter la finesse d'une figurine heroquest.

I have that Vader puzzle!

3D printers are very accurate. Provided the 3D scans are too.

Cnc type machines are some of the things that can make me drool on command. I could swear that during some time on Make Magazine's forum I saw mention of a company that does small jobs of laser cutting/prototype milling/3-d printing for a reasonable price. You think I would have written the address down at some point.
