i have been reading some and looking at some stuff on Ye Olde Inn"ye olde inn" and from what i have seen the
green elf and red dwarf and all of that is SO lame i suggest you play with players at least 9 years of age like the game recomends. How ever i do see it being a minor issue with your mercs/men of arms. whats more is wouldn't you want all of your bases to be uniform? I guess i don't know that said lets have a talk about it here at the pub!

Not trying to pick on anyone but it seems alittle kiddie with multi cololerd bases

Yes, I like the bases to be uniform too. But to each his own. I'm not really sure what you mean by "green elf", "red dwarf" and "multi coloured bases"... Where do you see this?
Regarding the mercs, my plan is to paint their clothes/feathers different colors. You really do need something to differentiate them. Are you planning to paint the minis?

its unlikley i will have all four of the mercinaries hired at one time by the hero. i figure i can allways use the elven swordsmen or elven archers if i need to for more mercs. when i played the first couple missions/quests of wizards of zargon we didn't use any hired men. zanwrath was a total puss i thought. the traps are the worst part of the wizards campaige.

It's only kiddie if you label it as such. It's like people labelling all video games as kiddie. It's personal opinion. I don't mind coloured bases at all. I can even see a couple benefits. If you store your miniatures together in a tub, it's easy to pick out the heroes and start playing. It's also easy for Hero players to quickly identify their miniature when playing among a table of painted minis. Sometimes players making quick decisions accidentally pick up the wrong figure. A coloured base would help prevent that.

i don't know any serious table top gamer that stores all there painted HQ model in some sort of bin piled up. just becuase you are the inn keeper dosn't mean i 'm going to agree with you on every issue.

Opinions are opinions are opinions...
Actually I have played with adults who got confused about painted minis. The colour codes are not as useless as you think.
And don't forget that not all table-top-gamers are serious
