In Germany, and compared to what you guys have over the pons, everything is close.
You could land in Stuttgart and you'd be close.
Land in Straßburg, France, and Anderas could pick you up on the way.
Land in Nürnberg, and I could do the same.
Bremen, Hamburg, Hannover... Goblin-King could pick you up.

And yes, history in German schools is all about spreading fear and insecurity and guilt among the young.
You wouldn't believe the extent of this, really.
Nothing compared to US patriotism. Same overall goals, of course (keep the small ones small and silent), but very different.

Of course, and I knew it would be, it was way outside of my budget to cruise out on a lark...*Chuckle*... But it did remind me that I really would love to do a European tour at some point.

maj!

Yes, that's where I live.
Frankfurt Airport is an 1,5 or 2 hours drive from my place. I would come and pick you up.
If we can make this happen, and people are coming from more distant locations than Denmark (there are quite some representatives of the Inn in Greece and Britain), there will be more than one arriving in Frankfurt, which is kind of a hub of European aerial travel.

So it will be cost effective when I come and take you all together for the ride. I will try to borrow a bus at work, which I would do anyway so we can make day trips.

First - congratulations on the new child. That's great. And...good luck ;) That's coming from a third-time dad.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------>^ ^Sometimes, that's all you can do.

Thank you so much. The older one spotted me writing this post (I normally do this at work, but this time I was at home) and demanded me to include all those  emoticons  .
.I will expect LIVE ACTION heroquesting,

If you really would come and this is what it takes, I will set up something for you. Did some LARP in my time.

Probably not. Too much work.

If I go, I will certainly inform you so we can arrange a meeting.
Have a look ;)

Here're some overall thoughts:

  • We should find a time when all or most interested Inn-members can arrange the trip.
    • could be the summer holiday time, but if nobody has children in school age, we can avoid these (as everything is more crowded then).
  • The meeting shoud last some time, so the efford pays out.
    • I'd say make it two weeks: week one can be more "concentrated" with the more "important" points of the program. After this, people who cannot spare more time can leave. Week two could be more relaxed.
  • What do we do? Just my imagination, could do everything you like (well, almost everything).
    • Morning: Relax, chat...
    • Day / Afternoon: Day trips, siteseeing...
    • Evening / Dinner: Barbecue |_P
    • After Dinner: HeroQuest! :skull:
  • Where do we live? If we are doing this in my place -
    • We have two rooms where two guest each can sleep conviently. We could make up more sleeping places in the bureau and the older son's room (he can sleep at our room for the time).
    • If you like camping, you can sleep in the barn. It's warm and dry but not luxurious.
    • There are many hotels, guesthouses and holiday appartments in the neighborhood, ranging from cheap to luxury, some are very stylish in family run wine estates, medieval houses etc. We can find something that fit your needs.
  • If there are people who would like to participate, but can not afford the trip, we should find a way to help. There are members in Europe I would like to see very much, and would rather pay to see them once than to miss the chance alltogether (although I'm notoriousely out of money myself).
Have a look ;)

As mentioned previously, I'd love to do this, if nothing else to have another reason to check out Europe. But it really does come down to cash, and as cool as it would be, there is no way I'd be comfortable having donations to help with such a trip. Rides and a couch surfing would not bother me, but airfare is crazy.

All of that said, it did occur to me that, were it to be an extended "Event", Europe being as well connected as it is, (Rails), some folks might even consider doing a Euro Tour? Actually visit multiple cities where possible? This might allow European Inn members who might not get to travel for a week or two, to see each other anyway? As well as maybe getting a crack at playing a range of different people's home-brewed HQ stuff. Just a thought.

And again, regardless, I would that at least some of you get to have such a meet-up in one form or another.

I will never have a week, for at least another 6 to 10 years.
Completely unrealistic if I'm not single for some reason soon.

I must admit, this does sound sort of interesting. A week or two, no chance, but if this thing was definitely on with fixed dates, then maybe two or three days in the middle of the week could be doable?

What about this plan:
I take my private A350 ACJ and fly around the world. I land where one of you lives, and you get on board.
5 star Dinner, Heroquesting and sleeping is on board. Each time we land, we take our time to visit the city over the day. In the end, each one of you will have made it one time around the world and i let you out where you were getting on board.

Travel time is the number of players in days. :)

Dreaming is nice! A week is likely not doable for me, too. But some days, i really would like.
