1. the collection is a "one click bundle". That's it. It saves you time, not money.

2. the "end times" is being used as a narative campaign follwed by a big "reboot switch" to basically set up a new version of WFB.

The pricing thing is an interesting discussion, people only seem to look at the price tag, not it's real value, the product quality, or anything else. This tends to be a mine field,

I do have some problems with GW, but I willa rgue against illogical complaints.

Argh! ARE they in fact rebooting the Fantasy universe? I was only joking! What is that gonna be like?

I was in fact close to writing how I really like the models and of their high quality :)
But then again, a lot of the new models look really really bad. Of course this a subjective matter...
I dunno... It sort of shines through they are computermodels and not hand modelled.
I've heard some say that GW's studio paintjobs are to blame.

New and more imbalanced characters, one of them costs 1000 points and you can include him in a 2000 point game. Effectively he is unkillable, unless the opposing army has another similarly ridiculous character, in which case the guy who rolls the most 6s wins the game.

Even fluff-wise it's rubbish. I never read all the stories and stuff, but now it seems that a high elf wizard or a bretonnian damsel can "harness the lore of undeath" and summon hordes of zombies and skeletons to fight at their side.
It's just plain stupid.

This is the previous dwarf gyrocopter.

If you like it or not is a matter of taste.
However, I dare anyone to go to the GW site and find the new dwarf gyrocopter and compare them. If anyone finds the new one better I will kill myself.

Aah... But fantasy wasn't ever really meant to actually include special characters.
It's more for the sake of friends being able to recreate certain scenarios, not to have a balanced game.
I mean... If someone actually brought Nagash to a game... dude... really?

Regarding the models... It seems to me like the design style has changed quite a bit the last couple of years.
It's like fantasy is getting a too modern look.

@ slev.
One more thought about pricing... People compare GW to other companies that make equally great models at lower prices
It's not just crybabies being too poor. Then we have tournaments and local GW-store games that require you to use official models.
This basically ends up with: Our models are high priced and you can't use anything else.
Combine it with the rulebooks/army books/codexes always changing everything around so you need new models to compete.

The bundles so far never had discounts in the last years. It is not a surprise.

Whereas, i would like to have more companies selling plastic instead of resin or metal. It is the best material if you want to customize your minis.
I am quite happy since the space orks are full plastic. :)

Plastic as compared to metal is prohibitively expensive to set up (moulds, machinery), but much cheaper in mass production, so plastic is the natural choice for big companies who have the founds, and Metal or resin comes natural for smaller companies who are just trying to build up.
Mantic and Wargames Factory make plastic models on par with or better than Greed Workshop, and Reaper take their own way with their "bones" line.
Have a look ;)

Alas poor tasoe, I hardly knew him.

1. People compare the whole GW product (Minis, plus dedicated support network, stores where you can play for free, etc) with the products of other companies (just the minis), which is apples and oranges. Yes, not everyone uses the whole value of the GW product, but that isn't an argument about teh absolute worth of it. That said, I know how frustrating it can be for the product to not be the one you want. Doesn that mean that the product is intrinsically bad, or just not the product you want?

2. GW hobby centres & events require you to use GW modles, this is a sensible business decision. Other tournaments get to make their own calls. At home, you can use what you wish. Accoring to every metric barring internet community engagement, tournament players are a minority of players. GW's internal metrics (please don't ask how I got to know this) show that the majority of players are married fathers in their 30's & 40's who played as teenagers, and now play at home with their mates.

3. Yes, the army lists change. There are a lot of players who demand this. Since 4th ed WFB (1992) and 2nd edition 40K (1993), there have not been any significant model changes that would prevent models being used in WFB, most of them easily being used as another new type that replaced them (especially when merging or de-merging unit types). Yes, the new models may look better, that doesn't mean that the old ones can't be used.

and this is why I do not play WH and when I buy GW mini's I buy them second hand from eBay.
I can't stand to support a company that thinks it needs to squeeze every penny from customer it possibly can.

If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

is that mates as in "significant others" or mates as in "friends?"
