Sure, vast liberties were taken, but it's a movie, it's entertainment, it's not an excersize on how to make a movie as true to the books as possible. I was entertained, mission succeeded. I like Tolkien a lot.

chaoticprime wrote:You want to talk about Hubris, let's talk about the Hobbit movie. That movie is rape, plain and simple. If you liked that movie, and have read the book, you cannot be a fan of JRR Tolkien.

chaoticprime wrote:The novel is called the Hobbit, because its not about freakin' dwarves. Thorin Oakenshield is not a strong young man, he's a miserable old bastard who wasted his life. The point of the story was to contrast Bilbo with Thorin. If you missed that, read it again, but read it right.

i agree they were off the ball a little with some of the dwarves. and yes the book is called the hobbit. and is about a hobbit. and a wizard. and some dwarves. and a dragon and middle earth. as it is in the book and as it is in the movie. i cant watch a movie and compare to the books or i would never enjoy anything. just enjoy them for what they are instead of worrying about it. life is too short for that sorta thing

I still can download it though, am I right?chaoticprime wrote:The Hobbit movie is a freakin' sham, and if you spend money to see it, you're part of the problem of anti-intellectualism in the world today.

Peter Jackson wants money. The Hobbit movie is a freakin' sham, and if you spend money to see it, you're part of the problem of anti-intellectualism in the world today. The Hobbit movie is going to do just like the shitty LotR adaptations did and supplant Tolkien's vision of what he wanted. Peter Jackson is human scum and needs to go away.
