Or do they just cross-reference to a list in the rules? If the cards carry them themselves, a hero could see what he can't use after reading the restrictions on his character class card.
Thus, you could just write "none" where there are no restrictions.

I spoke to a couple other people about the restrictions thing and they all agreed it was consistently misinterpreted. So the fix was to change the wording from "Restrictions" to "May Not Use." As far as the keywords are concerned, I don't use equipment cards but you'll notice (just like the first time you asked ;)) I listed all the keywords and their definitions in a post a couple posts earlier here. But the principle stands. On the armory sheet, each item has its keywords listed so you can see what your particular choice of character class can or can't buy and use. So, with this change, any class with no restrictions, it will read, "May Not Use: No restrictions."

In related news, SUPER EXCITING NEWS, YOU GUYS!

I am THIS CLOSE to needing to change my pants here. Devin Night has agreed to provide tokens and sketches for monsters and heroes. If the name doesn't immediately ring a bell, Devin is one of the most prolific and best content artists in the VTT space, particularly for Roll20. His tokens are top, top quality. He's basically like a quasi-celebrity in the virtual tabletop circles. And he's doing custom art for HQP. I AM SO EXCITED!

His schedule is a little hectic, so he probably won't be able to get any sketches for me to use in the character class cards until about September. But that's okay, I don't have a deadline, and he has generously donated his skills and time to my project because he likes the game.

Update: I got all 22 sketches to be used in the character class cards turned in. As soon as I have time in the next several days, I will work them up and post here.

Progress! |_P

I like the design...having the character pics in the background really lend to having more
text on the card, so more can be explained right there in one item that can sit in front of the
player during the game.

I would say one thing - try to keep the background pictures to one side, specifically the right
of the card. It seems that the pictures can be seen better on that side, and they don't distract
from the text. If you look at your second set, you have two characters more to the middle,
and it gets to be a bit much trying to read through the background.

(Notice that a lot of your text tends to fade off at the right, as a lot of text would, naturally.
This is one reason why that layout would work better). :)

Yeah, all of the art I received has already been designed to be anchored in the bottom right corner of the cards. Also, because the proof-of-concept cards I did earlier in this thread used images I found online, you'll notice that the images have a bit of shading on them. This sometimes makes it harder to read the text in front of it. For the finals, not only will the images be placed in the corner, but they are also inked with minimal shading so it will be less intrusive for reading. :D Example of the image to be used for the Hunter:

Didn't you wanna go all Greek-derived and make the Aquamancer a Hydromancer?

I thought it was the other way around...?

Hnnnnnggg. :/
EDIT: *lemony goodness*, you're right, kk. Well, it's a quick-ish fix at least. Thanks for catching that. :) Don't know where I got confused.
EDIT2: I realize I fraggled up because although I had mentioned I would make that change here on the forums, I failed to actually change the notes in the actual documentation. I'm not going to redo the collage, since that was only made to show here. I corrected the card itself, however.

The restrictions heavy weapons and armor is too vague.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

No it's not. Keywords are identified. :)
