Hey everyone!

Just want to introduce myself to the crew. My name is Steve and I fell in love with HeroQuest upon its American release in 1990 (I was 9 years old at the time). For several years, I made everyone who would listen play it with me and had loads of fun making up new quests, monsters, spells and store items with my friends as well as (rather incompetently) painting some of the miniatures.

Then high school happened. Then college. Then five more years.

Then, a couple years ago, I dug the old game out of the closet at my parents' house during one of those "you're a grown-up now, take your old crap," conversations and played a few dungeons with my roommates. My old love instantly came flooding back and I got hooked again. It took me a while to get a regular group going, but I finally did. Who knew when I was 9 that I would one day be playing HeroQuest with my wife, and having even more fun than I did with my friends in sixth grade?

So, a couple weeks ago I went on eBay to find a couple replacement dice and maybe a box that had held together a little better. It was not until then that I learned this game is a collectors item, with certain expansions selling for hundreds of dollars. Of course, that only made me want them more and now I've blown way too much money on miniatures and such.

I am so excited to find Ye Olde Inn. IRL, I have never talked to anyone about HQ without first having to tell them what it is. I honestly thought I was the only person who ever owned it or remembered playing it, but you guys have inspired me to further embrace this return to my old love.

I plan on being around a lot.

If you have any of those Quests, Monsters, Spells, or anything else still, we would all love to see them. Hopefully you'll find plenty here to continue playing and designing Quests for decades to come.

Haha yes, I didn't mean to exclude my northern neighbors. I thought it wasn't released on our side of the planet until 1990 though - a year after the UK release. Isn't that right? Whenever it was, I got it for Christmas that year after making it well known that it was my most coveted plastic thing in the world.

As for my old quests, drathe, I do still have some of them. The quests are hand-drawn on graph paper, so I think I'll fancy them up a bit before posting. I haven't looked at them in like 18 years, so I hope they're not totally lame. if they are, I'll just change them before sharing so as not to look lame myself.

EF, I probably will not become the old man who does nothing but HeroQuest only because I have way too many other nerdish hobbies. Comics and books and video games... sigh. Now I'm talking about painting HQ miniatures and my wife, for the first time ever, after accompanying me to Comic-Con twice and watching every dumb sci-fi movie I can push on her, has just called me a dork. I think I may have crossed a line.

I had a friend of mine let me borrow her son to help clean up my garage a little over Labor Day weekend, and he is 19 years old, and found some of my Dungeon and Dragons books, video games etc.. and he started to drool. LOL Then to my surprise I found a seal copy of Hroquest Elf Expansion Pack. He wanted to open it to look at it, I told him its a collectors item, and I would show him what I had inside the house. Even more drooling, should hav grabbed a mop

I then checked eBay US, UK, Germany and did not see anyone selling one, so I traveled over to boardgamegeek.com and I see a company offering $345.00 for it. I just started to laugh, as if, my kids need to play this expansion one day I thought.

Wife shook her head, and I know she was thinking its only a game sell it, you geek or dork !! LOL But at this time I can't part with it !!!

A sealed copy can go upward to $500 US. Opened ones go for an average of $250. Perhaps you should get a decent opened copy from eBay, then turn around and sell the sealed one to cover the costs, plus a chunk of change.
