Stay awhile and listen

Postby Kagekaze » January 23rd, 2016, 11:55 pm

Greetings, Heroes!

I wanted to introduce myself as a newcomer to the forums. I have owned the North American HeroQuest box set for quite some time, my box is battered and held together with tape, but all the pieces are there, even if a bit damaged. I also own the two sets Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord. I've held onto them for years hoping to one day go through the campaigns with a group, but it was hardly ever meant to be. That all changed almost a year ago when I found Tabletop Simulator on Steam. There I found various versions of the HeroQuest game and realized now I could make a group even if they weren't all there in the same location, we could now play it online. I had the books so I didn't need much else, or so I thought. I started looking up clarifications and suggestions on rules and eventually found this site. I got excited as I learned of packs never released here in the states and even ones that were released that I never got to own.

I've been running my HeroQuest campaign for about 8 or 9 months now. One quest a week with friends online. I record it all and put it online for anyone that never got to try it. We approach the end of the Witch Lord and that brings me here. I've not, admittedly, lurked these forums. But I did find that some of the higher quality maps require forum use. So here I am, introducing myself with intent to now browse and mingle. I'll post introductions for the series I have online as well as the HeroQuest mod I now maintain in the Steam Workshop separately to keep this from going over long.

Other than that, I want to say this site has been amazing I love how much information there's been and glad to know I'm not the only one who fondly remembers this game of yore.

Welcome to the inn!

Glad to hear you found some people to play with after all.
There's nothing worse than really wanting to play a game and no one wants to play with you!
(Okay, there might be SOME things that are worse... I guess!)

Online is ok but it's be a shame to not play for real.

Let me clear that up for ya.
KK, in this case, is me. As opposed to Kellar's Keep, the other KK, I'm supposed to be tricksie.
I don't know where BOB got that notion, but it's sticky.

I posted more details in the thread here: viewtopic.php?f=143&t=3302

short of it is, Tabletop Simulator is great for emulating board games. It often goes on sale and is 50% right now at HumbleBundle for $10 usd. I'm not sure for how much longer. my mod was uploaded here.

I'm always looking for feedback if you decide to try it.

hey KageKaze, nice way to get a game in even if it isn't the conventional method.
