Greetings folks,

I am new to the forums and site, though I was a fan of the old Agin's Inn site from some few years ago now.

It'll take me a little while to find my way around, but I wanted to say hello and express my gratitude in seeing this fantastic resource revitalized. So thank you!

Brief background on me; I am an "Old School" table top gamer who cut his teeth on D&D going back to the mid '70s. While I do not get to play [any games] as often these days, Hero Quest has always had a place in my heart as a fantastic way to introduce basic Role-playing concepts to new gamers. I used to play it with my Daughter when she was little, then lost my copy of the game in a move quite a while back.

Now that my son is getting a little older, I have been looking at ways to get him into gaming (He loves Lego's Heroica), and I have been thinking about HQ as the next step. So finding that an updated version of the Agin's Inn site now exists is pretty exciting.

Well, before this becomes a wall of text, I'll close here by stating again, thank you to those who have put the effort into this project--your efforts are very much appreciated.

I spent some time poking into various corners around here, and it's pretty enjoyable and informative so far. Seems like a friendly crew as well, which is nice.

Welcome to the Inn! Will you be trying to get a new copy of the game now yours is lost? I've seen people constructing their own game with a custom board, proxy miniatures and printed questbooks/cards from the website here.
I've made a larger version of the gameboard myself, and I'm loving it. Much more space for all those minis. And I also printed all the cards plus loads of custom cards too.

If you're looking for cheap plastic minis that have good detail, are a little bendy but unbreakable, check Reaper's line of "Bones". Can't go wrong with those.

Yeah, as much gaming gear as I have already, I don't think I am too worried about replacing my physical copy of the game. The main bummer was losing all of the cards. Since those (and more) are available from this site, I'll likely just reprint the stuff I need. To include the wonderful collected rules set(s).

As to minis, I have tons of minis from various games (including a ridiculous collection of the WotC figs from back when they were doing the blind-draw packs), and will be able to easily find alternatives to all of the base monster types. In fact, I'll likely re-do the monster cards with pics of the D&D minis that I'll be using. This also gives me the option of selecting specific minis to represent all of the "Special" NPCs found throughout the various pre-made adventures.

The only caveat I will put out there is that; *if* the Copyright issues ever get resolved and a reprint/re-release of the original game were in fact published--then I'd probably pick up another copy. I admit that I think Fantasy Flight could do something special with the IP.

All of that said, I like your idea of producing a larger board for the game. I often thought that some of the rooms, while cleverly laid out, were a bit small for containing the encounters within them. Having a board with say a 1.5 inch grid for example, would be an advantage.

What size grid did you end up going with? And, did you simply recreate the original board or did you come up with a unique design?

I printed out each room and various corridors on seperate pieces so they can be laid out as the dungeon is explored. I chose 1.5 inch squares. Some would think that is too big, but I don't think so.
