Hello!

Postby Jewels! » June 9th, 2013, 11:15 pm

Hi, I'm Julie, but you can call me Jewels :D

I've been playing Hero Quest since the mid-'90s, and sort of inherited the game system from my friend. Used to frequent Agin's Inn back in the day too, and was surprised and saddened to see it no longer existed. :( That was where I picked up my wonderful Elf and Barbarian expansions, among other things. My games had been sitting in the closet, but the little one is off for summer vacation and wanted to play board games. She suggested Dungeons & Dragons but I figured this would be a bit easier for her to pick up.

One run through The Trial and she's hooked. 8-) We're going through about a quest a night, so things won't last the summer. I went poking around for quests and found this place! Hopefully we can spice things up a bit. I may have to finally punch out my expansion packs though :(

That's what they're for!
Have fun with em! Collectors can look at em unpunched and drooll over em - you get something far more valuable - wonder and memories for a lifetime from your little one!

I'm surprised anyone could resist unpunching delicious hero quest figures.
I remember when I bought my Return of the Witch King. The minis were still on the sprue. I savored those moments when I held them in my hand and started cutting them loose.
It was a little adventure in itself. I knew I would probably never get to do that again...

But hey! Minis are for playing with :-D

Welcome to the Inn!

Glad to hear you're still Questing, Jewels! If you really would rather not punch your valuble sets (they could help pay for your little one's education the way costs are going), there is the option of recreating them. The files you can download here and here at the Inn are free, though you'll have to print them, or glue and cut them out in the case of the tiles. Very good quality reproductions of the figures are also available from various members. You can discover them at the Ye Olde Market forum. Here's the thread you'd want.

Even if you decide to unpunch your sets, you still can download Against the Ogre Horde and Wizards of Morcar from here. You wouldn't do bad to play those first, as the North American expansions are said to be really tough right after Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witchlord. There also are a lot of White Dwarf and home made Quests available here, including many remastered versions of original Quests found at Agin's Inn. Finally, you could have a go at The Dark Company Advanced Quest Edition to finish out the published Quests if there is time. After that, drathe and Phoenix made some Quests that are possibly even more challenging. Have fun exploring Ye Olde Inn, a lot has been going on.

Hiya, and welcome.

Get those expansions opened and de-sprued and unpunched, you'll enjoy them far more. :D 8-)
(even more than that if you paint them too. )
