They're not additional monsters. What we agreed is that monster variations are perfectly acceptable.

Show me. Quote where I posted that.
I tried to stop you from using Kobolds and Swamp Goblins in one and the same quest, is what I did. And I gave reasons.
knightkrawler wrote:Didn't we agree that in an arc where we have Fimir and Kobolds, we do not need swamp goblins?
Even more so because everyone agreed on the following stats for the Kobold: attack 2, defend 1.
As opposed to what I suggested, attack 1, defend 2.
Any way I see it, Kobolds and Goblins in one quest? Why? gootchute is handling the arc, last I heard.

Where in blazes is the freakin' problem with that? Pure and Proper Ego? What?
The problem is you two trying everything you can to ruin what I'm trying to make a good finished product, presumably because of your own egos. Do you have any idea how frustrating that is?

I actually make constructive criticism how you could accomodate for the kind of "simplicity" WE have in mind and you tell me I'm after you and to fraggle off?
Yes seriously, either quit what you're trying to do or piss the fraggle off!

You know, I wouldn't have posted that image if I thought that this would happen! Although, for the record, I can make more images like this if we need rules pages for anything else.

Anyway, I've just about finished drafting the second Quest in this series, the Crypt of [#Name], which I will try to post tomorrow, then finish cleaning up both that and #15 (The Ruins of Direburg). By now I think we've generated enough raw content to construct the other two Quests in the cultist chapter. Gold Bearer, as we agreed, you are the current custodian of Quests 17 and 18, so unless I hear otherwise you have the first crack at finishing a working draft for those two, after which I will help you refine them as best I can.

As for the rest of you... I respect your dedication to making the HQ25 pack as good as it can be, and I hope you will not be afraid to tell me off if I put things in my Quests that don't fit with the big picture. |_P

Re: HQ25 Chaos Cultist/Undead Chapter

Postby Gold Bearer » July 24th, 2014, 7:53 am

We haven't been getting feedback from people motivated by making the quest pack as good as it can be though. I wish that was their motivation but they made it very clear that it isn't. All we've really got are these two trying whatever they can think of to ruin this chapter, like repeatedly trying to make out we're somehow breaking the rules by including new monsters when all we're doing is using variations of approved monsters, something that was explicitly said to be allowed and encouraged. Now they've turned their attention to the cultists by trying to make the rules for the standard ones conflict with the specialist ones. Right after I posted this...
Just to add to that:

Tzeench cultists have up to three chaos spells, nurgle cultists have up to three swamp spells, khorne cultists can summon a lesser demon and slannesh cultists raise the stats and heal other slannesh followers and can prevent hero spell casting. They're better and what they do the more of them there are, up to six, and they need at least three in the same room or corridor to do any of it.

This is just for the chaos cultist chapter. In the same way the chaos warrior special rules for each god don't apply to generic chaos warriors outside of the chaos chapter, there could also be generic chaos cultist with the rules you just described. Of course this doesn't prevent people from using the god rules in their quests if the want to.
...we get this in the same topic...
Goblin-King wrote:They are not getting more or stronger spells because there are a lot on the table. No matter the amount they get ONE spell for ONE of them to cast.
...making the specialist the rules we've developed (especially your revised ones) where they need three of them to cast weaker than the standard ones.

On top of that GK tries to get me to leave the project for coming up with too many simple ideas. These two have become a real problem. They're nasty little trolls.

How about one for the swamp traps like in WoM if Gootchute is planning on using them. :)

Er, no, they are both involved in the HQ25 project and adding their ideas, just as you are. They are trying to keep the quests/ideas/rules/stats simple, as we all agreed on. When something new is posted, they evaluate it and if needed add their thoughts. They are not trolling you, they are trying to make HQ25 something everyone will understand and enjoy. And I encourage everyone involved to do so. Add ideas, thoughts, comments, constructive critisizm. Try not to take this as a few people trying to get you to stop, because they're not.

Right. So far between the two of them they've tried getting rid of just about every single thing that I've thought of. They keep on trying to make out there's additional monsters when there aren't and we are in fact just doing was agreed by adding monster variants. KK tried telling us what monster types (I mean out of the approved list!) we should be allowed to use. Right after I posted our cultists rules they two of them went straight for the standard cultists to undermined the rules we've written. GK even suggested moving the chapter to the swamps to cut out the two quests I've written. I could go on. Do you really not see what's happening here and what they're trying to do?

You refer to the ongoing conversation in the "3. Choose your monster stats" thread, yes? It actually doesn't matter what is decided there, as our Quest-specific cultists can keep both the abilities we designed as well as the ability for the generic Cultist, whatever that is decided it will be. And there does need to be a generic Cultist ability, since other Questwriters can and are using them in their own Quests as well.

Sjeng has a point though. I highly doubt GK and KK are discussing the content you create for the sole purpose of telling you it's no good. I suspect you're just being overly sensitive, as unhelpful as that sounds. It happens on occasion. When it does, you may find it helpful to step back for a moment and look at the bigger picture. :2cents:

Yea I've been taking about that in the other topic.

It's when I step back and look at the big picture I see what they're up to. Individually what they've said in each post isn't that bad but if you look at all of it, it becomes very obvious that all they've been trying to do is ruin the chapter by taking out everything that's any good. It's very annoying.
