After custom equipment cards for HQ21

Postby Jembo17 » March 10th, 2023, 5:51 pm

Hi guy,

INSANELY long time lurker here. Got the original game as a birthday present and have never looked back and it sent me onto Space Crusade, 40k, Warhammer, WHQ, Blood Bowl, Necromunda... you get the idea.

I've got my Mythic tier Heroquest and am trying to flesh it out in preparation of running a campaign. What i'm wanting to do is to expand the equipment deck as much as possible.

I am not creative, and have zero ability when it comes to artist programs so I can't design stuff myself. Is anyone able to point me to where I can buy some custom equipment cards that are compatible with HQ21.

Any assistance/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Don't buy from online people... the markup is ridiculous.

If you have the ability to drag and drop image files from your hard drive to a web page, then you can make a new deck of cards and order them for a pretty reasonable price (50 cents per card) in the same style and quality as the remake set. (Here I'm talking about MakePlayingcards.com and BoardGamesMaker.com) You'll need to "make" at least 18 cards in a batch but it's pretty reasonable (11 days turn around time after you submit the order and often coupons are offered if you leave the product in your cart for a couple of weeks).

Images of various objects from the game artwork are available in the Remake style via the companion app. You can run the Board Game Companion in an emulator like BlueStacks and use the windows snipping tool to capture that artwork (or various people have leaked those images online as well). You can also grab images found on YeOldeInn that are from the various classic editions of HeroQuest to buff out your deck.

I've been playing around with 'customplayingcards.com' to create some new equipment cards.

To those who've already made their own, should I be using the 'custom game cards' 63mm x 88mm in the custom poker section to make cards that are identical to those in the base game? (HQ 2021). Also, what's the correct card stock and finish please?

Also, I remember seeing some custom equipment cards on here for Dragonscale armour, Leather Armour set, Flail and a few others, only now I can't find the images. Does anyone know where they are?

Thanks.
