Kickstarter - Dungeon Tiles

Hi all,

Thought I'd share with you a link to a kickstarter for some great looking 3D dungeon tiles. It is a friend of mine who is creating the Dungeon tiles and I have personally pledged £100+ to get myself a great package. Look at the pictures and you'll see my Advanced Heroquest figures being used to demonstrate the dungeon tiles. If you are in the UK it will be cheaper to post but I believe that they will post internationally too at a cost.

Take a look and let me know what you think, there is only 2 weeks to go on the kickstarter and I am not sure whether they will reach their target. I certainly hope they will because I could really make use of the tiles to make an epic Advanced Heroquest campaign.

Looks good, though I'm not really into 3D tiles. But good luck to your friend. This looks like a solid package for 3D builders.

But I'll say... Hirst-Art has REALLY found themselves a great niche. EVERY 3D dungeon is either scratch built or Hirst molds. They are definitely the kings of 3D dungeon molds!

Yes it would seem so mate. I don't really know too much about 3D tiles but I know that they are licensed by Hirst to use their products. Hirst must be making some serious money from their dungeon tiles...and good luck to them!

I hope this kickstarter gets backed! I've already got it in my mind that i'll be receiving my tiles...I'll be gutted if I don't!

Not to nag around, but why in blazes does nobody get the idea to do anything different from those one-inch scales?!
I cannot wrap my head around it. Why does nobody do one-and-a-freaking-half-inches.
The whole point of 3D dungeons is playing more beautifully. But on one-inch-squares the old HeroQuest problem stays. With a vengeance.

I would blow a shitload of money into any kind sir's ass who's got the stomach to actually try a real size for a realistic price.
Again, not to bash on anybody, but ... you know ... a guy has his dreams, and he is not alone, I can tell you that much.

Hadn't thought about it that much really, but I do see your point. Initionally I saw them the actual size of the tiles didn't really register that much, I guess they make them that size to play it safe with people. A serious point worth mentioning on the comments page I feel

hirst arts has 1.5" molds mage knight tiles were bigger than 1 inch creative gamescapes makes 44.5mm spaceship tiles heroscape hexes were 1.5 I believe and I think hero clicks used a 1.5 grid I made a hq board out of stone floor tiles they are 28mm but I left a 1mm border between tiles so they actually take up 30mm

Gotta make sure you read that with the proper context...

1.5 inch tiles makes sense to me for playability and not crowding the board. I would love to try a fully done dungeon to get the feel for it and see if the 1 inch would make it too claustrophobic. I get the impression that 1.5 inches would be a lot smarter especially with any mini that has something that sticks out or into another square. You get a few of those and it could get testy moving stuff around.

And all of that I know of, but all these products are just not what I want. Not at all.
I'm talking about a modular tile system that has whatchamacallit... style.
Notable exception there of course: Hirst Arts. But I don't wanna pay that kind of money to a guy to then build the whole thing myself. Paint, yes, Bake, no.

In this Kickstarter, in the pictures with the minis, you can actually see that it's gonna be claustrophobic. A more beautiful style isn't gonna change the tummy of a freakin' Ogre.
I Do Not Get That Playing It Safe attitude. I could say something implying greed, but I won't.

There are products (that actually aren't, but still have to be produced) that would automatically open up their market share (and a fair portion of it, at that) IF some courageous sir would have the ass to actually put it out there and then properly advertize.
Nobody wanted Tamagochis, Converse Chucks, strawberry bubblegum, or Masters of the Universe.
But they all got put out there, and BANG! people went crazy about them.
It's the same with dungeon tiles in a scale that's somewhere between 3.5 and 4 cm. I have spoken.

I'm not saying that I understand why people would want to 'play it safe' when there seems to be alot of people like yourself that would want the scale increased. Bringing something new to the table would certainly grab people's attention...and maybe even money if the idea is good enough. I should be seeing my friend who is running this kickstarter at some point in the near future and I will discuss with him the points raised by yourself on this thread, and any others which may come. Hopefully it will at least make him think about making them in larger scales.....we shall see however...

The sad thing is: I won't ever have the money or space required to have that stuff.
So take me as an old grumbler speaking for many dungeoneers out there. I could have the ass myself to do a kickstarter. I just don't know from nuthin' wi' that awntrayprenoor stuff.
