I've been tracking the prices lately as i just sold two Game Systems on eBay, and $71 is a good price for a complete US set in excellent condition. Congrats |_P

It's your first set (or return to) I take it?

Do you know if anything is painted and would you paint it if not?

Thanks!

No, I've returned to Heroquest late 2011. I first bought a Dutch version of the standard game. Played it with friends and it was a succes. Then I bought "New Edition" followed by KK and ROTW (all Dutch). Late last year I made a custom version of The Frozen Horror and this is my first US base set. Nothing, of all sets, is painted. I do however, intend to have one complete set painted professionally.

We've finally played the US version for the first time. It's a relieve! It plays much better then the Dutch version. It's a lot more fun for the DM and it's tougher for the Heroes. I carefully went through this forum and added some houserules for known issues. Because of that, we didn't had any discussion and far more play time then usual. Everybody agreed that this was the only way to move forward. One thing we did notice, even more so in the US version, is that the Wizard is a really weak character.

Yeah, the Wizard problem...
Some ideas:
* Include the spell sets from Wizards of Morcar and let the Wizard pick 4 sets.
* Make a new weapon: Wizard's Staff: 2 attack dice, also diagonal (300 gold); optional update for 500 gold: let it shoot three fireballs per quest (2 attack dice).
* After every five "won" quests, let the Wizard pick one spell to be cast twice per quest.
* Make an artifact for him to wear, something like an Embroidered Magical Tunic, giving him 3 Defend dice (+1 from the bracers +1 from the cloak makes 5 defend dice).
* Read this thread from OldScratch's, it's really worth it. Keep an eye open for Wolf's idea there, especially: http://oldscratch.smackwell.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1287927278
