Another KS Modular Terrain Campaign

Postby QorDaq » February 17th, 2016, 8:59 pm

Greetings all,

I just saw a new campaign today on Kickstarter for some modular floor tiles in plastic. Similar conceptually to the project Thantos is currently researching, though potentially more specific and less flexible than Thantos' efforts, the KS Project is called Dungeon Worlds Part 2 and it comes from Acheson Creations.

These tiles are not interlocking like Thantos will be, but they do have some nice basic textures and a few interesting set pieces (including a really pretty stone bridge). Anyway, have a look if you like, they are pricier than Thantos' project looks to become, but they are available to back now as the very low funding goal has been met. The first Dungeon Worlds project was apparently successful though I did not know about it...*Sigh*...

Another big difference here is that the Dungeon Worlds 2 project is scaled to conventional 2x2 inch grid where the Thantos project is designed specifically to be 30mm "Heroic" scale, which is good for larger minis. Though one could certainly use each DW2 tile (~51mm) as one space and make some really huge dungeon rooms heh...

Regardless compare them for yourselves if you're in interested.

Still not the scale of the future! ;) Thanks for offering the comparison :) Some of the scenery looks nice, but tiles are a little blobby for my taste

Some of that looks a little half-arsed, some look quite good. I don't think there's enough there for my tastes. I'd be better spending my moneys with Hirst Arts.

2"x2" without an inner grid for each 1" square is a workable solution, but I'd prefer the unit square to be a bit larger as well. 60mm square would work better, but so many are mentally tied to the D&D 1" square. I guess they were figuring that was the market would reward.
