List of Artifact Locations (BQP The Frozen Horror)

So finally here are the locations of the Artifacts for this Barbarian Quest pack, for anyone who needs it. Obviously if I missed anything, let me know!

Snowshoes of Speed - Quest 4
Ring of Warmth - Quest 5
Spell Scrolls (Random Draw): Quests 5, 6, 8, 9 & 10
Amulet of the North - Quest 7

And yes, as many have pointed out, the Armband of Ice is never actually found in any of the official quests!
(but in 2022, Avalon Hill released a free solo quest intended as a prelude to the pack, entitled "Into the Northlands" where this artifact is found).
Into the Northlands also adds brand new Artifacts that didn't exist in the original 1992 edition (Warhorn of Command, Ice Queen's Spear, Cold Iron Plate, Spiked Shield)... and there are only general guidelines given, that if Zargon wishes, they can be added to the campaign, probably heavily guarded. But they are otherwise completely optional and have no physical cards (the PDF gives you guides to print them yourself).

The Armband of Ice is one of those "glitches" caused through lack of playtesting. If anyone intends to play the solo quests of either Frozen Horror or Mage of the Mirror they MUST be modified. So since some type of modification must be done, might as well throw the Armband of Ice in there somewhere.

Zargon can add the Armband of Ice wherever he sees fit. Personally, I'd add it to the tomb in Quest 3.

Now then, where to put the new "Girdle of Icy Hot" which will be even stronger than the Ring of Warmth and the Armband of Ice (Using the logic of bigger is more powerful...)?

As you noted, Snowshoes of Speed can be found in Quest 4. This would probably go great with the Plate Mail found in quest 6.

Any idea if Snowshoes of Speed would prevent the heroes from slipping down the Ice Slide?

a bit like ice cleats to walk up an icy slope? I don't know if that would break anything if it stopped you sliding.

In the Elf Quest Pack, the Queen gives the Elf something after two of the solos Quests, but the Barbarian doesn't get anything for all that he accomplishes? I've got Gothar giving the Barbarian the Armband as a sign of his thanks once he is saved at the end of Quest 3.

A reward after the three solos seems appropriate, I presume Phoenix's choice was due to the extreme difficulty encountered so far in EQP. I don't see any reason to waste the Elven Chainmail though, I consider it a perfectly valid reward.

I was always disappointed in the artifacts and other stuff available in the Frozen Horror QP. Most of the treasures found are situational to cold environments.

The Elf gets special armor, Elven Bracers (which I think they also forgot to place in the quest book), an Insta-kill bow, and a number of other artifacts useful anywhere. There is even an artifact-quality item you can find in the treasure deck.
The Elf even gets new spells to choose from.

From what we have seen in the thread about the missing Dwarf and Wizard QPs, there seems to be mention of more spells, powerful artifacts that increase the number of spells the wizard can cast in a quest, mithril armor items, and who knows what else along with the assumed stat boosting items like the Amulet of the North and Elven Bracers.

The Barbarian gets the short end of the stick. It would have been appropriate if he got a reward for the solo quests, like an artifact sword that has the same stats as a battle axe with a nice ability that could be useful in a number of situations (not just cold environments for example).

Zargon just needs to design many more cold weather related quests! At least those Potions of Warmth still will restore 1 BP under normal conditions.
By the end of BQP everybody should be piled high with potions and artifacts that nullify or at least nerf the effects of icy environmental hazards and spells having to do with cold, (Arnold Schwarzenegger IS The Frozen Horror)etc.

The Elven Bow of Vindication has limited use, and has to be handed back at the end of EQP. As for the extra treasure cards, nothing says those have to go away just because you move on to another quest pack (Zargon's discretion). Consider though that the Barbarian starts out stronger than the Elf, and he can go nowhere but up!

There's some debate about the Elf artifacts, as some of them say "the Elf" but don't also say "can only be worn/used by the Elf." If he dies or hands them to another hero, what then? (I treat them as "anyone" at that point).
