HeroQuest lost Quest Packs: Wizard and Dwarf Quest Pack

From the little I've seen, the Dwarven pack (which was the least finished) looks to be the toughest, perhaps tougher even than the published version of the Barbarian pack. I agree that the Wizard pack seems the easiest.

The theory of having a basic level title hero to meet up with some fully equipped three other heroes suggests they at least take place after the GS, maybe even another couple of packs under their belts.

Dear fellow Heroquesters,
I’m glad to announce I’ve managed to acquire early versions of the unreleased Wizard and Dwarf quest packs from a person who was involved in the development and review of the four north american quest packs in 1991-92.

Luca, can we get a status update on this project? We haven't heard from you in over 6 months now, so anything you can share would be fantastic! I'm hoping for an update more substantial than a "we're working on it", but again, any news is good news!
and as many others have said already, if there's anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask!

O hey! Well, we're working on it!
No, seriously, we understand the frustration: it's been too long for us too! But we're very close to completion. I just updated the files with the next-to-last changes we're making to the questbook, finalizing the tile sheet and the cards, putting the final product images on the box. We're very close as of now and determined to finish this off as soon as possible.
I'm also finishing the revision of the intro quest, so there will be something to play with while we're exploring if a physical print is doable.

There's a new plan...

Sept 18th Thursday the Italia GROG guys are streaming a Wizard Pack Promo reveal with Lucapaschi on their youtube channel. (Italian) [EDIT: Plans are changing... I am not 100% sure what HeroQuest Italia is doing now... see below...!]

Sept 19th Friday I'm streaming a Wizard Pack Promo live playthrough (following a presentation by Lucapaschi) on my Twitch channel 2pm CST (English)

Sept 20th Saturday Cristobal of La Guarida De Morcar is streaming a (pre-recorded) Wizard Pack Promo playthrough on his youtube channel. (Spanish)

The Promo will reveal the Wizard Quest Pack as well as introduce it with a special Promo quest written by lucapaschi as an introduction/prequel to the pack, similar to how Avalon Hilll has often promoted their expansions with online digital quests.

I presume at some point the digital quest will then be released online. Feel free to correct any details there...

EDIT: So apparently Italia GROG got a letter from Hasbro saying there's a review embargo in place until October 23, 2025 at 4pm.

WHAT??? We now think this was a misunderstanding, that someone at Hasbro thought that these guys had Wizards of Morcar and were going to reveal it before the OFFICIAL reveal at Spiel ESSEN (October 23rd is when that convention begins). The "reveal at Spiel" for WOM makes total sense. Although we were not allowed any recorded or sit down interviews at GenCon, that was what I picked up that most likely such reveal would be taking place there. This means that WOM will probably see a November release (or, if delayed, then January 2026) since that seems to be the pattern of their marketing and release schedule for HeroQuest.

BUT... what if... they had inadvertently confirmed that the Wizard Quest Pack, unbeknownst to us... despite all of the excuses for why they wouldn't release such a thing, were being set aside and REALLY "The Wizard Quest Pack" is being officially released by Hasbro, and soon?

I am not going to get my hopes up that this is true, but still an interesting little dream. I think we can safely conclude that if this does happen, probably the version from the Lost Quest packs project won't be the same as Hasbro's, not just for the style but because they feel free to rewrite it how they want. Even if they were striving for accuracy to the 1992 notes, they will probably make different editorial changes and flourishes so it will be different.

So anyway, for my part, I still plan to play Wizard Quest Pack Promo on that Friday. Remember, what we're showing (the Intro quest to the fan re-construction of the Wizard Quest Pack which has modern original artwork but done in a retro style and is based on the unfinished draft notes from '92) was created in the present day by a fan, not something from Avalon Hill and isn't meant to step on their toes. And it's not click bait, but apparently many people don't know the difference just see "Wizard" in the title and think it's something else.
