Good evening Inn Member's,

I have loved this game since I was a kid. Got my hands on the original again 20 years ago. Now I'm finding it hard to stay involved in the game. I honestly haven't played in over a year. The family was supposed to play for my birthday, but those plans have seemed to have fallen through. Between work, the kids, maintaining the house and or renovating it (built my wife a new trestle table with benches for our anniversary this year). I can't seem to find the time to play, write quests, or even paint a figure.

I'm curious to see how everyone deals with the everyday struggles of life and find the time for this wonderful game. I know one main response will be make the time, and I've tried, something always comes up that takes priority.

I, too, haven't played for a long while. Looks like a New Year's resolution is in order.

Time for me is not the problem. Finding local players is. There must be some— they keep buying the game at my Target stores!

My brother and I first played HeroQuest when he bought a set in the 1990s. We had both KK and RotWL but didn't do any repeat play throughs or custom quests. He kitbashed his greenskins into a Warhammer Fantasy Battle orc army and the game was pretty much neglected for almost two decades. Both of us started playing again...

I have two boys that will play HeroQuest with me when they get bored which is usually after they hit the artifical limit on video games and TV shows. I started them young, at 4 years old and we have played the main campaign twice. Hasbro releasing the companion app means I get to participate as a hero now rather than play as Zargon. We are almost done with First Light which we started back in March. Sometimes a visiting friend is willing to join a campaign in progress for a single session.

My brother hauled out his set during COVID and repaired his greenskins to introduce his wife to the game. They've played several of the newer releases as well as the classic campaigns, but haven't played recently. They live just a 20 minute drive away but we haven't done a campaign together. We still talk HeroQuest when we do visit and sometimes we'll set out the arena from Ogre Horde to let my brother conduct a battle with his nephews.

An added obstacle is the family poodle (who we love dearly) loves to snatch things off the table when she feels it is her playtime...that includes game components so giving the dog a good walk or play session before sitting down to HeroQuest is important.

I've seen cats interrupt game podcasts, but this is the first time I've heard about a dog getting in on a game.
