Hey guys! I've updated my website, it now has assets from the original four expansions. Plus you can now release your quest books so that others can download / review them. Please let me know if you find any bugs. I'm sure I have some!

I found another very good site that you can upload your own homebrew quests and rules and share and get great feedback: https://www.yeoldeinn.com/

[Tool] A new quest designing tool

Postby Rackabello » December 17th, 2023, 5:32 pm

Hey,

New to HeroQuest, and to this forum - a friend is setting up a regular game that we plan to start in the new year, and I'm helping out. This site has been a fantastic resource! In our travels we came across a really neat looking quest designer that's in development. I didn't see it being talked about here - or almost anywhere to be honest - so I thought I'd share here in case other people could get something out of it or share their thoughts.

Here's the link:
https://questbooklet.com

It seems to be very fresh, and in active development with places to share feedback and suggestions. Hopefully this is fine to post here, and people find it helpful!

There's no forum, no discussion boards, nothing except comments on the one quest that's posted. That could be why you haven't seen it talked about. My additional thoughts: their Patreon page only has one post in almost a year that's visible to the public, the YouTube channel has no content, and the Twitter page has one post. That makes it appear to not be in development or not be a legit site. According to the Patreon page, the site launched in January and its one quest was added in November. I don't need to sign up for a site to get one quest when this site has tons of them that people make freely available to everyone and actually has a place to discuss them. However, based on the email address you used to register for this site, I fully suspect this is just a spam post to steer people to that page.

Hey,

Not spam at all, only stumbled across it yesterday thanks to a youtube video and have nothing to do with it myself - didn't realise there was already a topic here and couldn't find one when I searched. I originally made an account here so I could check out the English translations of the Japanese HeroQuest rulebook, which was pretty fascinating. Just wanted to share because it seemed promising, though early in development, and I'd personally like to see it built on. Most activity seems to be on the Discord server so far, but I agree it does seem to have very little presence online. My email address is just my personal email, but I use gmail's built in variations a lot because it's easier to see where spam has come from, and to filter emails.

You have no obligation to believe me, but I really was just trying to be helpful.

I registered to explore the site and check what's inside...
It allows the user to create a questbook with prologue and epilogue and the related quests but seems you can't create a single quests without creating a questbook first.
When you download a questbook it will ask what paper size you prefer, A4, Letter or US Trade and generates the pdf.
Here's a low resolution sample of a downloaded questbook:

I like the look of that program. I wonder if it is as easy to use as hquestbuilder. I like how it looks similar to the original NA version quests. My issue with the hquestbuilder is there seems to be no way to adjust the size of the text (if there is a way to do this on hquestbuilder, someone let me know). It doesn’t seem to adjust for paper size, like this program seems to do.
