Phantom Blade / Magic dagger question

Postby LucaRocks » August 28th, 2023, 12:55 pm

Do the PB and MD work differently or the same as far as rolling to attack and damage given?

I think you throw the dagger, it does damage, end of story. You don't have to roll for attack. However, with the phantom blade you always have to roll to get a skull before you can use the option to have the monster take the damage without defending.

Please let me know if I got it right or not. Thanks for the help

Hey I tried to delete this thread since no one answered but it's still here. Is that normal?

Users can only "soft-delete" the post, it means it is pending an admin to permanently delete the post but it is still visible to you and admins only.
I just put back your post so it can be useful for other users.
The PB and the MTD are different weapons.
The first one (Phantom Blade) can be used as a normal weapon to attack with 1 combat die and once per quest you can use his special feature to attack a monster giving no chance to defend. But you may still roll no skull when rolling your attack die.
The second one (Magical Throwing Dagger) is a one-time-use weapon and you don't need to roll any die because it ALWAYS inflict 1 BP of damage when is used (thrown) against an enemy. So it is basically stronger than Phantom Blade but is lost once used.

That's how I play Magical throwing daggers. Where is the Phantom Blade from?

it comes with the 2021 edition. Some cards from the Mythic packs ended into the standard box even if they are never mentioned in the standard questbook.
I thought it was a hint about their intentions to release the stretch goal questpacks in the future.

Yes, the leak revealed that Prophecy of Telor and Spirit Queen's Torment are coming out later this year (check PulseCon 9/22 for updates!).

Contrary to some fears, the "extra" Artifact cards do appear in all remake Game Systems, whether the big box retail version (red AH logo) or the newer retail slim box version (white AH logo). But it's true they are never actually integrated into the Game System book .

This means that all of the extra artifacts introduced in the Remake will appear in retail format with quests that actually use them (nothing stopping you inserting them into your own quests before that of course!) except for the Dragon Spear and Crown of Shadows which were exclusive to the Crypt of Perpetual Darkness, which they said along with the new tile sheet and "Venim" dragon miniature were exclusive to the Haslab campaign (along with Mentor, Witch Lord and Prisoner Sir Ragnar figures).
