I've got an extra set of the Game system figs (and about 3 extra sets of furniture, minus doors), and an extra set of figs from Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord. I've also picked up a couple of the Wizards of Morcar figs. Everything else has been "other" figures.

Wallace The Wookie; Gaylion the Firmir Mage; The Howlin' Hag, to name but a few.

Right now I just stick with the original figures from the game set, I have looked into getting some Reaper Miniatures, but my biggest think is the scale and the bases. When I used to play a ton of Hero Quest I would only use the original figures, Later in college I had friend who would make there own characters and they had there own miniatures. It would have been kind of jerk like not to let them use those. Now that I am older, my biggest concern with using other miniatures the bases size. If the base doesn't fit on the board squares then I wont use it. I have re-based some of my friends miniatures so that they will fit on the board and it has not turned out too bad. As of right now I am a purest, and stick with the models that came with the game sets and expansions only.

There are various other types of miniatures that are used for other types of monsters. Minis from Dark World, DW: Village of Fear, Advanced HeroQuest, Dragon Strike and Battle Masters. I have some Wood Elves and Saurus Temple Guard from Warhammer Fantasy. There are a couple of minis I use for special characters. One is a knight that came from a Kinder Surprise in the mid '90s. I use it for Sir Ragnar. Basically, if it fits the board and looks alright next to the original HQ figs, then I will make use of it somewhere in my games.

As a Sir Ragnar fan, any chance of a picture, drathe ?

I have about one and a half sets of the original HQ minis, as well as the ogre horde and the advanced HQ figures.

I bought every set of figures from the dungeon crawler games from that era I could find (dragon strike, legend of zagor, darkworld) I've kept the best ones but a whole load of others are just sitting in an ice cream tub cause they aren't quite right.

I put most of my figures onto HQ sized bases, this is important I think. Now I feel like they are all part of the same game.
