Working on a new version of the AtOH spells, and need help

Hello All,

My group is one quest away (that being the last quest of RotWL) from starting the AtOH expiation. So I have been working on a new version of the AtOH spells, and need help.
I am trying to create spell cards rather than using the spell tokens.
Image
That being said I did fine at least one other person that had done this. On a site called:
http://yeoldeinn-heroquest.blogspot.com ... cards.html
My version will be a hybrid of these two.
Using the token back image as the new card back image
Same type of layout as on the back of the spell tokens but with the clearer wording as what the spell does as on the heroquest blog spot cards.

My question here is for the Dominate Spell both versions say that "If the Sorcerer scores two skulls or more than the Hero/Defender is under his control for the rest of his turn"
First I take this to mean that it would be the rest of the Sorcerer's turn and not the end of the Hero/Defender's turn right?
For the main question of this post, what happens if the Sorcerer doesn't score two skulls or more? For example let's say the Sorcerer rolls three skulls and the Hero/Defender rolls two good shields. This leaves the Sorcerer having one skull left over that was not canceled out. But it would not be enough to take control of the Hero/Defender. So would the Hero/Defender take the one mind point as a result of the fact that someone just tried to mentally attack them even though they are not controlled? Or does the left over "Skull" not count for some reason?

In closing if there is any advice from anyone on playing this expiation please let me know. Like any changes besides the variable body points for the ogres (I already plan on making them like the ones from the Elf pack).

Thanks for your time
Adam

Hello,
I wanted to say thank you to all of those that have read this post. But I have not gotten any replies on this subject either here or on the Ye Olde Inn Facebook Page. Though I have gotten a few thumbs up there about this topic. That being said after waiting this short time to see what insight you guys might have, I'm going to move forward with this project. So for right now I will have the Dominate Spells inflict mind points on a Hero/Defender even if the Chaos Sorcerer doesn't score two skulls to put them under his control for the rest of his turn. Once again showing this example to make the idea easier to understand. Let's say the Sorcerer rolls three skulls and the Hero/Defender rolls two good shields. This leaves the Sorcerer having one skull left over that was not canceled out. But it would not be enough to take control of the Hero/Defender. AS a result the Hero/Defender takes one mind point as a result of the fact that someone just tried to mentally attack them even though they are not controlled

Hello and sorry for the late reply. Yes, the chaos tokens are not really clear, I suggest to read the complete description of the 3 spells inside the ATOH questbook.
A lot of details are totally missing on the tokens, they should be used only as a reminder.

yes, it means during the Sorcerer's turn. Precisely, for the turn in which the spell is cast.

The spell failed. The sorcerer needs to roll at least 2 skulls more than his victim or the spell has no effect on the hero.

Hello All,

I finally got around to finishing this project yesterday, or at least making some temporary cards until I "pull the trigger" on a card printer. Plus really wanted to have this starting area that someone made for the Eldar in Space Crusade. ImageImage
(note these pics were taken with my "smart" phone and I still don't know how to rotate them)
First put a board down and laid Wax paper on it. Then cut out the rough size of chip board I was going to need for both projects. I used mospoge to glue down the back cards print to the chip board. Weighed it down once dry I used a straight edge to cut them out. Next I broke out the old school projector I have and laid the card front page face down on it. That way I could trace the outline of the cards on the back of the paper. So I would know where to glue the backs of the cards with the chip board on them. Image Lay Wax paper over everything and weigh it down. When dry I used a scalpel to ride the edge of the chip board to cut out the cards so everything was as even as I could make it. Then gloss mospoge on both sides, making sure each side was dry before I flipped the cards to do the other side. The file I made was in the Euro style as AtOH was a Euro Expatiation.Image

Congratulations on seeing your project through! It's nice to see fans are still self-creating.
