Lord of the Rings

Postby ken » November 7th, 2010, 5:49 am

Puck's cousin came by Yesterday, He was an avid collector of the De Agostini LoR magazines. Don't believe they were released in USA or Canada? Anyway, I showed him the Grima Wormtongue Quest, and he wants to attempt it! We spoke of incorporating some of his LoR Heroes into HQ. Has it been attempted? Is it Beyond The Pale? I thought Frodo & Sam & Gandalf & Legolas to start with, then perhaps one of the stronger fighters as the quests progressed. We could journey through the standard Quest Book, to see how things pan out. Any Thoughts?

Yes. Take photos and report how it went.

I would be quite interested in how it turns out. I myself am working to make workable stats for my LotR SBG miniatures.

We played The Trial, UK Quest Book, on Sunday. Boromir stats. similar to standard Barbarian, Legolas, standard Elf, Gandalf, standard Wizard. Frodo Baggins stats, Short Sword, Mithril Armour, Attack 2 Defend 4, Body 4, Mind 3. Samwyse Gamgee stats, Short Sword, Attack 2 Defend 2, Body 4, Mind 2. Puck played Sam & Legolas, Oberon played Gandalf, Pucks cousin. Frodo & Boromir. Worked very well, Puck rushed poor old Sam at every Monster he saw!! Did lots of damage, really enjoyed hisself. The others just kept up the moral support. Think I will miss out Sir Ragnar from the Book, as we have played it several times. Working on an "Encounter at the Pracing Pony Inn " to take its place. Watch this space.

I'd find a way to institute another defense die for Gandalf. I mean, dude took on a Balrog and survived. Maybe allow him thebroadsword or something? I mean, Gandalf DOES have a sword.

You are both right, of course! Thanks for the feedback, I will make sure he finds an Artifact in the shape of a sword, in his next quest, what about his defence side?

Wizard's Robes could suffice. A magical property gives them an additional die in defense.

He's also amazing with his stick - at least in the movie. It seemed to me that Gandalf was the most badass of them all and the hobbits were basically moving targets.
