Calling all Morcar fans!

Okay, so the subject was a little bit click bait. But I've been looking at the European (English) rulebook and am curious if I'm understanding it correctly.

Does the Euro version limit the entire party to one of each item from the armory? It talks about taking the card for that item and placing it with your character. That would be an interesting wrinkle--and tough. Does anyone actually play it that way?

Yea, that's the official rule and how I used to play it back in the day. If the quest notes give a card they already have then they just don't get anything.

In the German translation the rule is to take the card and transfer it on the character sheet. There is not explicitly specified, that an equipment card can only be used by one hero at a time. Furthermore, there is a text passage in a quest concerning a trap result, like "...all heroes wearing helmets...". Therefore we never restricted the equipment in this way. By the way, we never even thought about, that there could be only one helmet, at all.

It makes sense that any Hero can purchase additional equipment without limit since the cost is included on the cards. Only the quest treasure cards, with no cost, are limited. For further EU clarification:

Adventure Design Kit wrote:The new character sheet has several features:
▪. . .
▪An equipment space which allows you to make note of any equipment your character owns. This also allows you to buy pieces of equipment for which there are no spare cards by simply paying the existing cost and noting them down.

In the 1st UK edition, you were limited by the Equipment Cards, so you couldn't buy more than what was in the Equipment Deck.

This was changed in the 2nd UK Edition, and in many other editions like the US version, and some versions got rid of the Equipment cards entirely.

I believe that the original HQ Equipment Deck was seen more like the Purchase Deck from Talisman, before the gameplay got changed so the Equipment Deck was more like the Monster Deck.

There were many other changes between the 1st UK edition and the 2nd UK edition, and I believe there's a thread about such around her somewhere...

that's probably why there was 2 helmet and 2 shields in the very first release!

I believe the Japanese game system limited Equipment by cards available, but I don't recall if that applied to the Potions as well when they were used up... did they get replenished? That's how I would want to play it, if so, since they'd be pretty scarce otherwise.

Here's that thread about the EU vs NA differences that was a fun one!
