Hero Quest Expansions

I am a blind Hero Quest player so I can not tell just by looking; which Hero Quest expansions use the original board?

I have a tactile version of the board that we use so I want to make sure that if I purchase an expansion I can use my adapted board to play.

Also is there an order to play the expansions in?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Favre.

All of the expansions use the same board. Just be wary of Against the Ogre Horde though, because it uses a tile overlay that is 8x7 squares. I’m not sure if that would affect your system without knowing more about it. Your board sounds very interesting!

A lot of fans suggest this playing order;
Game System
Kellar’s Keep
Return of the Witch Lord
Against the Ogre Horde
Wizards of Morcar
Mage of the Mirror
The Frozen Horror
The Dark Company

I think Mage of The Mirror goes after The Frozen Horror.
The Ogre 8x7 tile goes over the central room, and occupies the adjacent corridors too.
Also in Return of the Witch Lord the Revolving Room tile fits over the 2 small 2x3 rooms and taking part of a bottom room.

Thanks for the quick reply.

My board uses raised outlines of the roomies.
I can probably place an overlay without upsetting things too much.

I have come across heroquest modular rooms you can place anyway you want.
So I just wanted to make sure I got the right thing.
I have heroquest advanced quest with a large quest book and figures with changeable weapons.

Should I do these quests before getting Keller’s keep?

Thanks,

Favre

I think you are referring to the Dark Company. I put it as the last one on the list of expansions.
The Wizards of Morcar expansion introduced the concept of Men-at-arms that the Heroes can hire. These are the guys with the changeable weapons.
But in the Dark Company these figures are used as the baddies. The Dark Company was in the Advanced Quest addition, so it made it seem like it could come straight after the original game system, but it shouldn't really (due to it's high difficulty level).

Thanks for the reply.

So I should just go and get Keller’s keep nut not use the men at arms for those quests.

Where is best to buy Keller’s keep?

Thanks,
