Inndex of Quests

Today I was starting to build up an index of all available quests.

The reason is that I am not very happy with Kellars Keep, but there are alternatives out there. Just, I keep forgetting where to look.

Today I was adding already KK, ROTLW, WoM, AtOH and Totts Questpack.

I add some values to them to ease sorting and finding of appropriate quests:
Mazeness,
Exploration,
Monsters,
Traps,
Riddle,
Something new,
Storyline,
Part of a questpack,
Alternatives to this quest (well this is currently empty)

Up to now. We could add more. Ideas are: monster types used, which expansion materials are needed... and so on and so forth.
I have heard that in Google Tables, several of us can work together on a table, so i put it there. Sheet one contains the quest index, sheet 2 explains how i choose the values.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... p=drivesdk

Currently it does not at all look sexy, sorry.

My hope is that this work can set the basis for some more beautiful html/mysql/php based page in yeoldeinn, where we then can filter according to our preferences. The index should contain both official and fan based quests, freeing the mind from the official packs.

For example if you like Ogres but you think traps are tedious time wasters, you might find some fan quests but not the official questbook at all. (There are way more traps than Ogres in the official pack)

I am hoping for some help, but if not, I will carry on alone, slowly. |_P

Yes. :)

0 - you go in a straight line from beginning to the end
1 - there are 1 or 2 dead ends (or loops)
2 - there are 3 or 4 dead ends (or loops)
3 - there are even more dead ends and loops
+1 if there is a group separator trap
+1 if there is a teleporter
+1 if the tiles are disconnected
+1 if there are other special mechanics

I gotta admit keeping that table makes sense.
I've long pined for somebody to step up and compile at least a chart of what is there and from who... rule systems, quests, even comparisons, and so on.
It's just too much work. But this is a start.

Also, would you add a column for the rules that are to be used?
For example, EU 1st, EU 2nd, NA, HQHV, HQ Revised, and so on...

Plus, different columns for the number of main grunts, higher level monsters (from Chaos Warrior up or something like that), and individuals with special rules (boss monsters, unique monsters, spellcasters...).

You guys are awesome!
I edited sheet 2 to better represent what I mean with my features.

Stratos, for years you were editing quests and uploading them. Do you have a list of them ready?

For the monsters, today i have just a equipment dice level you need to get through the quest with roughly 16 BP loss.
So if you can survive the quest monsters with three dice equipment, you find a 3 in the monsters column. That number is actually the most difficult. Each of them costs 5 to 10 minutes in the making, but then i guarantee that they are reliable as long as you use the four base game heros. For homebrew heros, most of them are stronger, so it should at least not be deadlier.

The Systems:
For the moment I just estimated Quests via the NA System. EU has nicer game cards but the monster system is meh. I estimate that the NA one is the basis for most homebrew, too. And if you then use skill cards or slev's system or anything, well then those numbers should still give you some orientation, hopefully.
Of course i don't know if it plays same-ish if one uses for example your modular tiles: is the "maze" value still meaningful then? Can't tell you. I'll have to come around one day and try your system with you.

Your last point is about counting models right? I was thinking about doing it, for being able to say with which material you can play the quest. It will add lots of columns so i did not do it in the beginning. If we work together we could do it though.

Isn't it Ogre Horde? I removed the S!

How about Quests that use the HQ system but on the AHQ tiles?
