Anything that gave me that gave me that sword & sorcery goodness.
Something to scratch that HeroQuest itch.

Wizards & Warriors
Final Fantasy
Magic Sword
Golden Axe
Black Tiger
King of Dragons
Knights of the Round

The list goes on and on.

What did you all play? Which ones were your favorites? And what made them your favorites?

I certainly played and loved all of those, and will add Dragon's Lair I &II, Dungeons and dragons arcade games at least two I remember that are similar to Knights of the round or King of Dragons, Rastan, and Castlevania

Curse Of The Azure Bonds on the Atari ST. A very old D&D (the only D&D I've ever played, think it's based on 3rd ed rules but might be wrong) game. Kind of reminds me HQ. You might six characters dwarf/gnome/halfling/elf/half-elf/human - fighter/thief/cleric/magic-user/ranger/paladin and up get up to two NPCs. I had hours of fun with that game. I discovered Unlimited Adventures a while ago and I started to make my own module, I'll finish that at some point.

I played HeroQuest. Period.

In all earnest, I was into pen and paper rpgs for five years when HQ was published, which is much time for an adolescent, so it was never "Sola Heroquest" for me.
I was after sword and sorcery, but Heroquest was not at the center of this interest. The Dark Eye, Midgard, D&D (Mystara setting), even Warhammer, were much more of a base for comparsion.
I found HQ ingenious, however, and do so even more today.
Have a look ;)

I've been D&D since my early years (a long time ago), so played any and all DnD type games.

Eye of the Beholder series.
Balders Gate series and expansions.
Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2.

Played the actual HQ conversion on Sega Megadrive (have the EMU and ROM somewhere)
A DnD game called Warriors of the Eternal Sun on Mega Drive also, very HQesque as well.

I was in my early 20s when HQ came out in Aus, but didn't know alot about it. I bought it while I was going out with a woman that had 3 kids.
DnD was too complicated, but HQ had all the right stuff. Bought KK, RotWL and AtOH (only expansions in Aus) and we played them alot.

Turned a goblin in to a thief with some tinfoil and a permanent marker, which added a bit to the game.

Now, having main game, I would love to see it (in all versions mentioned on this wonderful site) turned in to a modern, up-to-date computer game. Either turned based, as it is, or a little more live action.

There is just so much to this game, limited only by our imagination.
Check out my dabblings in writing.

I can remember some titles like :
Wizard's Fire (arcade)
Darkmere (Amiga)
Moonstone: A Hard Days Knight (Amiga)
and obviously Heroquest (Amiga)
Strange to say, but HQ was pretty boring on the Amiga so we preferred to play Space Crusade a lor more. But I guess it was because I already knew all the adventures from the original boardgame and also the graphic was more colorful on Space Crusade, so it had a better look.
