Youtuber does "one sided bias review" of HQ

He loves it, no, wait, he doesn't... Hold on there, yes he does love it.... No, some of it sucks!

A "one sided bias review" is most certainly right. No, wait, I'm wrong... Now, I'm confused.

Well it taught me I'm 42 years too old to play and that I shouldn't be so evil when playing the evil wizard!

Same here.... I don't understand people who compare HQ to D&D. It simply blows my mind in every way. Its comparing apple to oranges.

We already know HQ rocks. The number of modern Kickstarter imitations only reinforces this.

Let this guy have his ramblings. I couldn't watch it past the first minute. He didn`t say anything bad yet, but seemed to be disappointed in the game if only because he liked it when he was 9 years old. And his adult self somehow now knows better.

Everyone on here treasures it for what it is and what it is not. I was a little older when this came out and had already started with D&D. I suppose I resented it because it was on TV and looked like a pile of card board. But I always played D&D with minis and had I given it a chance, I would have have found that it was everything I was trying to do with D&D.

I`ve said this before and I'll say it again here. When we play, we don't even name the characters. That may be counter to the NA HQ character sheet... but you could NEVER do this with D&D. "You are the BARBARIAN, let's play!"
Has resigned from the forum and would delete his account if he could.

I always loved HQ as a gateway drug to TTRPG.
I'd wait for the guys to be bored but want to do something and I'd be all "let's play a board game".

A couple weeks later I'd have them writing up characters for D&D or Gamma World and deep into the questing lifestyle.

done it a few times so far

If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

I don't believe it is nostalgia from our youth that makes us like HQ. As a kid, I usually played it with my dad, he loved it as much as I did.

My first view also lasted only a minute or two--his style failed to win over my interest. Then I read this thread an put in my time. If you watch his video in its entirety, you'll see this guy is a true fan. At the beginning he does come off as apologetic by warning about HQ's intended market--something like "This is not a game for adults." I think he does this for fear of losing credibility by misleading the clueless. Some of his other comments come off as opinionated, but the same can be said for most any of us with our own preferences for the game.

The gem of this review comes in the last minute or so when he plugs some Zealot doors, right after he shows off his intact candlesticks on the alter.
