Story room

Postby MadMickyG » May 7th, 2016, 4:01 am

Is there a reason why there is no Story Room?

I feel the need to sometimes spin a tale of adventure. Hero Quest provides a great world to work in, with adventures and perils abound!

I'm a little lost here...

You want a sub forum to post short stories?

HQ Style short stories.

Could be interpretation of a quest that was run, or a tale of adventure from a quest yet to be run.

I'm a storyteller at heart. Plus, I can see many on this forum have great imaginations like me.
Would like to cultivate them even more, inspire quest ideas etc.

I see where you might be going with this. He realises that he doesn't need the blessings of a college to become a power wizard and sets off a group of adventurers to learn and prove himself?

I posted something from a MUCH bigger story that I've had in mind for ages. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3383 Not really sure if I like it though, it's just to give some background to the world. It doesn't match the tone of the main story, it's not meant to because it's so in the past but it creates a false tone that might put people off. I might scrap it or trim it or move it to the main part as someone telling the story of the history.

Not where I was going with this story, but that's another good idea.
Might add some more later as its 5:55am here and I just finished my 2hr walk.
Loungeroom is full of sleeping kids so no computer access. Not using my phone to
continue the story.

Why do I do that so often when I type?

Everyone does that. And it is very difficult in the moment to find your own errors because you already know what it's supposed to say.

You nailed "college" this time and you're using "your" / "you're" and "their" / "there" correctly. So I call it a win.

It's a forum post, not a tattoo (https://www.google.com/search?q=bad+tattoo+spelling+and+grammar&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiesqDZ2f3MAhUEV1IKHbfYDukQsAQILQ&biw=1130&bih=919). Mistakes are okay.
Has resigned from the forum and would delete his account if he could.

It's just that I used to be extremely prone to doing that to the point of dyslexia, it would have been almost every post eight years ago. I was so bad that I'd type words that sounded similar, stuff like fault instead of thought. I've tried to get out of that habit so it's annoying when I do it multiple times in the same post, or in this case three times in the same bloody sentence. It's only when I type.

A story and adventures place might be a good idea.

When I write up an adventure I rarely write up an actual map, I list the important issues facing the adventurers and a few detailed instructions on important rooms the heroes must discover. Then I wing it from my notes.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.
