HeroScribe Question - Icons straddling squares

Hello all. I've been working on converting all the existing maps to use the double corridor board and the 30mm scale as well as a few other modifications I'm trying. One thing is eluding me - I've been using HeroScribe for a couple of days, but can't figure out if it's possible to have icons, most particularly furniture, sitting off centre. For example, the standard fireplace takes up 3 squires, but often in the questbooks, it's placed across four, so it's only covering half of the end squares - can HeroScribe do this? Many thanks!

It can. You have to do it manually though. Once you place the object, go to "Select/Remove object" and select the object you want to reposition. Once you have selected it, you will see a number in the box at the bottom of the screen and some buttons that say "Shift X" "Shift Y" etc. The number in the box is the object's default Z order. (The order it falls in when stacking icons. It determines which object is on top if you have overlapping icons.) All you need to do is change the number in the box to the distance (in squares) you want the object to move, then hit the appropriate "Shift" button. So if you want to move a fireplace half a square to the right, you enter ".5" in the box, then hit the "Shift X" button. The box takes negative numbers too, so negative numbers move the object left when pressing "Shift X" or up when pressing "Shift Y." Also, if you want to adjust how one icon to appears over another icon, you just change the starting number (when you first click on an icon) to a more positive number, then hit "set order." This is handy when icons that are next to each other tend to have a slight overlap that may obscure important details about the icon. For example, placing a Gargoyle right next to a locked door can obscure the "lock" part of the door. The default Z order of the door is -1 while the Gargoyle's (all monsters actually) Z order is 0. Just change the door to 1, press "set order" and the door will be placed higher than the Gargoyle so you can see that the door is definitely locked.

No problem. I've fiddled around with quite a bit working on the archived quests. If you have any other questions, ask away. Although if anyone knows what the "Bridge" function is or what it does, I'd love to hear it. That one still has me stumped.

In my own Questbook.doc you can do this by deactivating the grid. I have included a shortcut icon for controlling the grid in the custom toolbar of the codument. Plus, you can freely scale and rotate all the furniture and other symbols.
