Hero Quest Gathering? (just a thought)

I have been brainstorming for a while and have some great ideas for the next quest contest! If there is another contest sometime! I thought of posting some of my ideas at the Quest builders forum at the other site but i think I am going to keep them to myself for now lol!

This also got me to thinking of another great idea but it may seem a little delusional However weren't we taught sometime in our early years that anything is possible!!!!

I will just throw it out there for the hell of it anyway!

There seems to be quite a following of Hero Quest on the Web for Good reason. How about having a contest with a Hero Quest Gathering. Here is my grandiose idea!

Each person who enters into the contest creates up to so many entries. We would need to come up with rules and what not of course.

Out of the people who enter we find a central or most popular region to host a hero quest gathering where each person can bring their hero quest games and play Zargon or Morcar for the quests they created. Then we could hold a vote after we have each played everyones quests. Maybe we could turn it into an annual event or something! Who knows if it got big enough eventually maybe we could take videos and pictures and send it to hasbro (Milton Bradley) and get the game back in print!!!!
We would have to create a buzz on all these hero quest websites and forums on the web to get enough people interested!!!! Hell if we just got 5-10 people to come to the first one i would consider it a success!!!!!!!

I would personally donate some cool prizes if this crazy idea actually worked.

From the crazy skull of Skulmar! lol!!!!
Keep checking back frequently if interested!

I can't believe no-ones replied to this yet.

I think it's a good idea, but I think it could be more.

Have the quest contest as part of a mini heroquest convention.

Like you suggested find out where heroquest players (and enthusiasts) are mostly gathered and find a suitable venue. Hehe, I imagine a large pub would surfice.

Personally, I would travel to anything Heroquest related as long as it wasn't too far. Only in the UK and probabaly only if it was near London or some other large town or city in the south east.

Ideas for other parts of the convention-
Heroquest cosplay hehe.
People selling heroquest bits.
Friendly drinking and chatting.
Treasure hunt.

I thought I had responded to this post before. Mayhaps I didn't click "Submit" hard enough... :?

I think it would be a really cool and fun idea. Not sure how to go about doing it though. Most in the community seem to be very busy people and are spread thin across the globe. Small groups may be conceivable, but unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any people in my own area outside my three gaming groups plus one. It'll probably need to begin with someone in an area with a lot of community members hosting a small HQ party and allow it to grow over time.

Any takers, feel free to start a post and gather some members who are nearby and/or willing and able to venture to a gathering! |_P

I posted this thread sevral months ago and it looks like those who have replied are interested. it be cool if we could get more people interested. I am willing to travel anywhere in the united States if I have enough heads up. Another way to find more people hero quest is through meetup.com I just joined that social networking site a few days ago and I found many groups throughout the united states that meet up to play board games. Still new to that website though but it looks like a great place to find people who would be interested in learning and playing hero quest. Anyway I still have hopes of having hero quest gatherings or a small hero quest convention or whatever you want to call it.

My friends at miniwargaming.com said that I can use their club anytime I wish to hold HeroQuest games and to gather new players. It's not very big and is often filled to the rim with folks playing Warhammer, but it's an option for me in the Niagara Region. One day, I hope to take them up on their kind offer.

Sounds fun, but no matter how much time prior notice a person gets, people forget or work gets involved, unseen happenings happen. Best chance of something like this working, is during a con of some sort, comic con, gaming con etc... renting a room for the weekend and teaching new players, and gaming at different levels. Early morning Hero Quest 101 for newbies, mid afternoon Hero Quest 102 so you play a little here and there time, and evenings Hero Quest 103 advanced gamers for advance quests. Then you hope they ones that show up get hooked and want to gettogher other times. renting confreance rooms or suites at hotels, restaurants even rent party back rooms with beverage and food orders... might work. If cost is involved pass it on to the players as a playing fee, explaining costs of room renting etc....
