PBP Competition Co-Op And Death-Match
I want to get a new type of PBP game going using a lot of the new stuff I'm come up. This would be a great way of testing the rules and should by a lot of fun to play. One way of playing would be to allow the players to attack each other in a last man standing death match. Another way would be to not allow them to target each other but still be in competition in a race to see who can complete the quest. Either way the winner stays on as reigning champion with all their surviving heroes moving up a level and can replace dead heroes as well as buy basic equipment and hire followers for the next round. A Hero can take items from a dead heros body and a players heroes can share gold and swap equipment between each other but not their starting equipment unless that hero gets a replacement that's at least as good in every way.
In death-match each player has a group of four heroes that start in one corner of an extended board (four boards joined together) like in the Dark Conspiracy advanced quest (I'll start making new boards at some point). The central room in each section will have a stairwell leading to a corner of the single board lower section, that's more dangerous but with better stuff to find. Whenever a hero kills another hero they would move up a level and gain new abilities. It could also be played with monsters. In the first round I'd be the DM controlling the monsters as normal but from then on I'd like to use automated undead monsters so I'd just set up the layout of the dungeon before hand. In the other way of playing each quest would be a rework of the original quests on an expanded board and the hero who completes the quest objective goes up an additional level.
In the first game I'd like to test my main sixteen characters that I made years ago so each player could pick one character from each of the four groups to allow more freedom of choice in the first round and then after that each new player in the round picks one of the groups of four. If you win additional rounds to start a streak you get access to better equipment and followers each time to give you a better chance in the next round. My characters and equipment are almost finished now and should be updated over the weekend. I'd love this to take off and be an ongoing thing with both types of games going and a waiting list for each. Maybe there could even be two death matches, one with monsters and one without. I think it could work really well.
